Meh, this has already been addressed ( by Aspy I think) earlier in this thread ( or the Preakness thread).

First off, you didn't even know what happened to barbaro, so you don't have enough racing knowledge to know what I'm talking about anyway.I'll quote my last response to an idiot in the Preakness thread.

Oh, and to milkshake a horse you test WAAAAAAY over. Oneill's horse was a .39 when normal is .37. That's not a milkshake. Normal things like lasix, dehydration, or even body chemistry cause different readings. I linked to a racing commission site that laid out rules and reasons for slightly high positives, but I got tired of looking for it. It's in a Preakness thread

Also... Trainers don't give meds, vets do. Trainers caught with needles are big time fined and suspended.

Also, pletcher, Baffert, and assmussen all have worse records, just doesn't make as good of a story.

Some of this is a response to stuff the guy directly said. Also, most of his violations are for overages of legal drugs. Different jurisdictions have different rules. Hell, Louisiana just changed their bute %. Sometimes keeping track when you run everywhere is difficult.

quote:

I am not going through the descriptions of his violations again. Milkshake test can show a range of total co2 levels (milkshake is way over limit) and most of the trainers you love are probably just as much if not more prone to BAD violations. Every state has different withdrawal times, etc.

I'm guessing you get all your racing knowledge from the new York times. Spend some time on the backside before you start discussing things you have no clue about..

As far as the breakdown level, oneill started at the bottom with lots of claimers. Usually the cheaper horses have SOME issue, even if it's just lack of speed. Graham motion started out as sheppard's assistant, so he always had ready clients with nice horses. I love graham motion and Jonathan Shepard. They are 2 of my favorite trainers, but the didn't have to claw their way from the bottom up.

Huh????? I didn't argue one way or another, nor did I try to argue with Aspercel about anything, or counter anything he/she said.

I said Frank Deford presented a good case that caused me alarm and put a damper on my enthusiasm. If I should still be enthusiastic I'm glad to hear it and thank Aspercel for it.

Aspercel hasn't addressed the loan sharking issue, btw, so maybe he/she will get to that.

So, let me summarize
