Phil Rivers - I'd take Cutler to be honest

Rivers was the best QB in the NFL last year.

Why in the world would you take Cutler over him?

Okay so if I ask you "what would you rather have - 10,000,000 shares of Wal-Mart or $1000" you'd take the $1000.

Because "today" the $1000 would do you more good than 10,000,000 shares of Wal-Mart stock. You can't buy anything with 10,000,000 shares of Wal-Mart stock - it would take at least 5 days to liquidize any of that asset.

Cutler 25td/18int

Peyton 27td/12int 32, at least 3 more seasons
Rivers 34td/11int
Brees 34td/17int 30, 4+ seasons
Romo 26td/14int
Rodgers 28td/13int

And I honestly believe that my question naturally implied ALL factors of a Quarterback (age, salary, injury history, etc).

You're going at it from a GM's perspective, while when talking about "Top 5 QBs in the league" that is typically from a stats perspective.

Talking about the top 5 QBs in a league does not equal who would be the best 5 QBs to build a franchise around.

I'm amazed at how quickly people are to completely judge a quarterback in the NFL. Its not a position that you can just grasp over night. The transition from the college game is a very delicate process, especially when you use different blocking schemes. Matt Ryan is the exception. Atlanta uses similar blocking schemes that he was used to in Boston College. For people to already say that the Jay Cutlers, Tony Romos, JaMarcus Russells, etc are busts/overrated/worthless is way premature. It takes time. In fact, back in the 70's the maturation process of a quarterback took several years. Today you get maybe 3. Also IMO, a young quarterback is only as good as his offensive line.

I dont think anyone is saying Cutler is a bad QB;

he's just not elite.

I'm not sure why you think that's funny.

Name me 1 QB who had a better season than Rivers, and then I can laugh at your response.

34 TDs(most in the NFL), 11 INTs(Best TD:INT ratio in the NFL), and best in the NFL in yards per attempt says Rivers was better than both.

jay cutler isn't even worth the time arguing about . he is a pussy who bitchs and complains all the time . he isn't a top 15 qb much less a top 5 . he isn't a winner and will never win the big game much less a playoff game

He outgunned Brees head to head?

If my memory serves me correctlly, Brees led his team to a game winning field goal attempt. It was missed but if a bad defense can be an excuse for JC then missed field goals can be an excuse for Brees.

With the Raiders signing Gradowski to back up Jamarcus, Cutler is no longer a top 5 AFC West quarterback.

That is true, but that doesn't mean they had a better year.
