Was joking as I cleaned up soda cans. They're good kids. People really get offended quick. Thanks for teaching me a lesson.

Not offended, just hit close to home. When me any my sibling were in elementary my parents would take sports away from us as discipline, by the time we got to high school we had a lot of catching up to do with kids who had been playing their almost their whole life.

Stunted sports performance vs stunted values comprehension......

Removal from a favorite sport for a time should be an option on the table but it's obviously a two sided argument.

Shouldnt had been such shithead kids. Dont blame your parents for actually doing their job. That is what is wrong with kids today, no discipline.

Keeping me from playing sports didn't make me more successful than them, it was in spite of that. I stand by it being a stupid disciplinary action.

There are other disciplinary tools. Removing a kid from a sport can a) make them not care about that sport or sports anymore in general b) as you stated stunt performance and c) make things worse. Sports are a good thing for development and should not, imo, be used against kids.

Sorry buddy. We all get on here because we love sports. Truly sorry that was a punishment. I promise no matter how many soda cans I clean up in the morning that I'll never do that. My kids may not be pros but I'm grateful that they like to go outside and compete and not sit in front of a video game all day. I'd never take that away from them. My bad on the response.

I didn't say it should be the first option always, and it usually isn't.

Not all kids grow up fancy and privileged having a ton of punishment options.

Football.

I had the size of a LB in high school but a tackles feet. My son will not be as big as me. He'd have to beg to play, and I'd still try to talk him out of it.

Football and basketball

Football because of injury concerns
Basketball because they would be humiliated

After seeing how much arse non-touristy LSU male cheerleaders obtain, I would encourage my male son to go towards that. Majority of male cheerleaders I've met are not gay either.
