re: Is there any prime CFB program who would hire Miles

If Miles got fired I doubt anyone would offer him his current salary, plus he'd probably just be looking for a job.
He'd still make decent bank even somewhere shitty like Purdue or Indiana.
UVA will be looking for a coach soon, that is a perfect place for Miles.
Tenured professors are a little different since they basically can't be fired. They will leave if they get a better offer, though. More lab space, less teaching load, etc.

Al Groh needs to return back to the NFL.

True, but SEC assistant coaching salaries have increased so much across the board, it's a bit like players linked to Chelsea, ManU, Arsenal, etc.
This hasn't really hurt him though. His two great teams both won championships because a lot of his top guys stayed 3-4 years.
I'm just saying that at least one big name coach thinks Roy does next to nothing with the players once they sign their letter of intent and the development is because of either the players themselves or the assistants. That sounds a lot like what Miles's critics say about him.

and there is a big difference in coaching of basketball and football

EB, a lot of coaches are locked in. Take Tressel, Stoops, Mack Brown, Paterno or Bowden 15 years ago, etc. I would probably even put Miles on that list if it wasn't for Michigan. It's impossible to fire these guys, just like tenured professors. However, they aren't going to leave their stable programs for a new job and they no longer attract NFL interest.

Sure, but he's speaking about what he does relative to other college basketball coaches.

i'm not saying miles is special
I know you're not, I'm saying no one except maybe UM would hire him away from LSU, but if he got fired, he could get another job at a 2nd tier BCS school, like DiNardo did. Miles record every where is better than DiNardo's.

Ryan Perriloux?

A couple of bar fights and failed drug tests =/= to what the kids at Florida, Tennessee, and even Alabama have done. Not even close.
And the last team arrest was sometime in 2007 I believe.

probably so, though age is a factor, Gerry D is only 1 year older than Les, exactly 1 year older in fact

"the rest of our schedule is dogshit, and we've struggled more often than we've played elite football"
I specifically said in my post there is zero excuses u can make.
We're in the top top 10 so speaking of firing Miles is absolutely dumb. How cannot see that is beyond me.

Our best hope with Miles is early retirement rather than someone stealing him away.
Come on Les you have what, four kids? They grow up so fast and you can never get that time back.

I was surprised it was that close myself and kind of weird they have they same Birthday.
That means Gerry was only 42 when when hired him
