Come on. Raleigh has had one great year but his average is Mendoza line stuff. Piazza is a 1st ballot HOFer and usually hit over .300 with 30+ HRs. Piazza is a top 5 catcher all time.

Top five hitting catcher.
No one ever mistook Piazza for a Gold Glover.

Mike Piazza also loved the LONG ball off the field.

.226 batting average for his career. Pump the breaks.
The game has really passed this board by. Using batting average alone to determine a player's value is absolute nonsense. This board thinks Luis Arraez should win MVP most years.

Family in New York are long time and devout Met fans. Piazza had amazing numbers yet was a massive choke artist when it meant literally anything especially come postseason time.

Except for the part where Piazza and his contemporaries hit for not only power but also average. Are HRs really up? Should be with everybody swinging for the fences.

.226 is well below league average of .245

You can understand the game has changed and also acknowledge that when he isn’t hitting HRs, he is making a ton of outs (as compared to an elite hitter like Aaron Judge, for instance).

Mike piazza was known for being a power bat behind the plate but it appears cal he’s even more pop. Does tBigDumper get in the hall first ballot?

Mike Piazza only hit 40 HRs once. Raleigh just hit 60. Totally the same.

He just hit 60 home runs

eta: and led the league in RBI

And to think piazza was drafted in the 62nd rd. By lasorda. Simply as a favor to his father.

I forgot how great his numbers were. Even better than I recalled.
