Top 5 is lofty, but I could see the argument

I think these 3 are pretty locked in right now:

Trout
Kershaw
Donaldson

Harper is having a down season, but I'd still put him in there TBH. But I could see the argument for the 5 spot. It's just really hard to evaluate because he does play half his games in Coors.

Top 5 is too rich for me. He is a great player, but Coors definitely inflates his numbers.

Damn that's a stark contrast! One of the reasons why I was skeptical about any team who would have given up significant assets at the deadline for CarGo if they had dealt him

his power is still playing on the road, but like a lot of players, they have contrasts in their home/away splits.

kris bryant, correa, lindor. for example

I get why people use these numbers, but SOMEONE has to play at Coors field lol. Everyone on here makes it seem like the Colorado players have a say in how the ball flies up there.

Is he supposed to be apologetic for being drafted there? If he plays his entire career in Colorado it won't matter.

He's a damn good player.

I think they were talking about Donaldson being top 3 at the moment not going forward. Similar to Miggy Cabrera at the moment

Yes, I believe you're right. I thought we were still discussing like if you had to draft someone

He is an excellent ball player, but it is a stone cold fact that Coors inflates your numbers at the plate. We have years and years of data confirming this.

Yes I know this, but like I said he didn't have a say in where he was drafted. I find it completely unfair to penalize a player for that.

There is a very big group of players who hit better home/away.

Hell, Jose Altuve is hitting .429 on the road and .304 at home thus far this year.

and no one is saying otherwise. and yes, people generally perform better at home than they do on the road. but i will always be skeptical of calling someone a top 5 player in baseball if they play for the rockies because coors inflates your offensive stats. it just does

Nobody is penalizing him. If he was putting up way better stats than everyone, people would say he's the best player in the game. But you have to discount the hitting stats some when he gets to hit at Coors for 81 games and Trout hits in a pitcher's park for 81.

What do you suggest we do? Ignore the fact he has a huge advantage due to the team he plays for?

Seager wasn't the best rookie shortstop in the NL this season. How does he make the top 10?

Story's production is aided by Coors Field, but Seager does not have the same glove. Other than the most regarded of Dodgers fans, everyone knows that he's a much better fit at third.

then why does seager have a better UZR, fangraphs defensive rating, and more defensive runs saved?

defensive metrics may be unreliable but across the board they think seager has been the better player in the field and hes also been the better player at the plate

he may eventually move over to third. but i dont see what that has to do with the fact that he has been really good at short this year

Story's home/road splits are awful, worse than Arenado.

Would take Diaz and Seager over Story without hesitation.
