You believe everything Laker fans and LaVar Ball tell you.

Bless your heart.

Both players were...wait for it...the 2nd overall pick in the draft. Also, being 2 years older, expectations in their 1st 17 games are realistically expected to be higher for Kidd, obviously.

Couldn't disagree more with that statement but that's your opinion

a lot of people consider Kidd's time with NJN his golden years

the dude shot .397% over 7 seasons there. I mean c'mon

Im not trying to diminish what he did, I respect him. But the East was terrible. That is just the facts. He made his team better with his passing but the guy had some big holes in his game.

Because he fell way below that in his career

He was looked at like that, and i reckon if we had the internet back then he wouldnt be so highly regarded.

He's always been a piece of shite but has kind of gotten away with not having any long term negative pub hang over his head

No...I don't believe them. That's why I argue with them..

If I believed them, I'd be making excuses as to why Lonzo is arse cheeks so far.

Definitely, he got major run in college, he was super popular.

The 2 are quite similar in many aspects. Biggest differences are 1 went to the most storied franchise and has a loudmouth dad, that's about it.

You think his dad has something to do with why people think he's in his own head with his shot?

I haven't checked any lines from guys drafted this year. The majority of the public doesn't give half a shite about how the other rookies do this year. Lonzo might be feeling the pressure that everyone is putting on him.

Whatcha think?

That relegated him to always being the Robin instead of Batman. Westbrook, he's a Batman player who can carry a team.

Who was the Batman on the Nets title runs ? Keith Van Horn ? Kittles? Kenyon Martin? I think the one with the multiple All NBA teams/ All Star appearances & future HOFer ( Kidd)?

Most important player despite not being the best scorer in Dallas ? No one takes Mash or Jackson over Kidd in a hypothetical draft.

At this point Westbrook has won as much as Kidd. Nothing . You all are obsessed with individual scoring when players do other things to impact a team/ game outcome.

That type of hype needs to be met with rings as the best player on a team. Did Kidd ever do that? If not, I'd laugh at your bump.

This is a joke right? Kidd was one of the most-hyped high school players maybe in American history when he committed to Cal-Berkeley, the all-time prep assist leader THEN he transforms the Cal Bears from ineptitude to viable national contender, leads them to victory over repeat champ Duke in the NCAA Tourney, National Freshman of the Year, then wins Pac-10 POY as a sophomore, first-team all-American, Wooden and Naismith finalist and becomes the no. 2 pick of the 94 Draft after Big Dog Robinson. I was a toddler then and social media didn't really exist but I presume that Kidd was logically labeled all those and immediate face of the Mavs when he was drafted and before he played a regular season game based off all those elements I listed.

That's a different type of hype. We don't use silly accolades to dish out hype.

We dig a little deeper when scouting kids to determine how they'll translate to the league.

Goddammit I sound like boom.

No one, it was a team full of Robins. That's why they were overmatched in the finals once they got out of the terrible east.

yea of course no one would take either of those guys over kidd. Which is why 3 mustered 52 wins in 2 seasons together

I mean the dude just finished the season averaging a triple double. Lets ignore the 30ppg at this point and admire that. Kidd never sniffed that

Sounds like "Robin" to Lester Earl. Good thing Kerry Kittles ,Kenyon Martin & Van Horn were there to carry him to those NBA Finals.

the notion that the best player on every team can be a Batman is silly

there are maybe 15 batman's in the whole association at a given time. Many times less. There are double the amount of teams. Do the math

Who was the Batman for the Suns the late 90s? 32 year old Danny Manning? Rex Chapman? McDyess? Old arse Kevin Johnson? Laughable. Man, that was the era Kidd became a big-time superstar and was earning first-team all-NBA, first-team all-defense honors and even finishing top 10 in the MVP voting annually. All this Robin crap.

Sounds to me like Kidd played in one horrific era of basketball

ETA: Hot take...

He'd be a clown if drafted in 2008.
