there are less games, more mexicans, etc.

Great point.

Kobe isn't even the most popular basketball player in America. That's why the title of this thread says Lebron, not Kobe.

In every aspect you can measure, soccer has more exposure worldwide, is more popular worldwide, and its teams and players have more fans worldwide. We are giving you stats and personal firsthand accounts, you are giving your opinion.

I love basketball, but it doesn't hold a candle to soccer worldwide. Lebron is not as big as Messi or Ronaldo. Their brands are in every country on the planet. Lebron's is not.

You do realize that market research companies have all done the research and this is their conclusion right? For someone who claims to be so worldly, you are very ignorant to the ways of the world there champ.

Bull shite and you know it. Soccer is like the 8th most popular sport in our country. NASCAR and hockey are at least 3 times as popular as that crap you call a sport.

I've got stats, idiot. You've got your redneck opinion.

From last season. Read it and weep: LINK

Soccertards love overrating the popularity of their sport just because a bunch of third worlders have no sports heritage and because eurogoofs don't have the athletic ability to do more than kick a ball around.

Any third world shithole can find a goats head to kick around. I never understand a sport that forbids the use of a mans most important appendages.

This Ronaldo must be good though. What did he do, score 2 goals last year and lead the planet in scoring?

this thread was about superstars. Not the sport. People got it mixed up then, and apparently are still doing so.

troll still trolling.

It has been well asserted and proven that both Leo Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo are more well known in the world.

Where is the mix-up?

Kobe is more popular in the sense that is more known.

Kobe may not be well-liked and even LeBron has his detractors, but this is about the most known athletes in the world and Kobe, LeBron, and Tiger are the most well known active athletes in the world right now and intelligent people know this. If you want to talk about the most well-known athletes of all-time, then that's a Ali-Jordan debate and everyone else falls in line.

Wrong, Kobe is by far the most popular basketball player on the planet. The Chinese liked him 2-1 over Yao when Yao was playing.

Ever seen the Redneck Randal meme? You've got him down to a T.

Soccer is played by some of the world's greatest athletes. It requires ridiculous technique and physical gifts to play at the highest level. Basketball is the same way.

Your "stats" also claim that WNBA games average 7,000 people each game. In other words, your stats are 100% bullshite.

Run up and down the field and kick a ball isn't exactly that hard to do.

At least tennis players have to use their legs AND their arms.

The most popular athlete of all time is Muhammad Ali. Speaking of boxing Manny Pacquiao is probable more popular than Lebron or Kobe right now

then the answer is Beckham.

because even people who don't watch sports know who Beckham is.

if you asked me who the most well known basketball player is in America my list my look like this.

Kobe Bryant
Lebron James
Lamar Odom
Kris Humphries

think about it.

oh testy sheltered one, your comrade in ingnorance is referring to a U.S. skewed/centric report on a clubs' net worth.

Market research. Do you know anything about market research? From your "they" reference, I think you needn't answer.

Even in this to which he references, it is

Manchester United

the New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys follow (again US centric, as these teams are not as universally known as soccer ones).

Real Madrid is fourth.

He mentioned the Los Angeles Lakers, who don't even show up prior to obscure NFL teams being mentioned, and even soccer clubs which are better known than the Dallas Cowboys and possibly the New York Yankees on a world basis (like London's Arsenal).

Apples, oranges. Separate them.

Are you going to argue stats that have been verified by tons of sites and news outlets?

If you Google "average WNBA attendance 2011", every answer is between 7,000 and 8,000. Please, argue all of those.

I'd love to see you do it. But I guess it would be "too easy" for you to try.

If we put in those terms, basketball is just putting a ball in a hoop.

Even worse, football is just getting a ball across a line.

EDIT: Shouldn't soccer be harder by limiting you to just your feet (by your crude definition)?

It's amazing how a game featuring an American team gets "the biggest TV audience EVAR", no questions asked.
