No, calling him the best defender still applies. Maybe you should call Kawhi the best individual wing defender.

All of which tell me he's on a team that is pretty good defensively and he's a great help defender. I never said Draymond wasn't a good defender. He's very very good. Just not on Kawhi's level.

I hear you on that.

Kawhi is elite in help defense as well and is the best on ball defender in the NBA. Generally when talking about defense you are talking about on ball defense first and foremost. At least in my experiences it is. I could be wrong though.

Draymond isn't primarily guarding guys who play on the ball a lot. His ability to defend posts and protect the rim plus switch on guards and perimeter players is what it makes him so unique as a defender. Comparing him to Kawhi is apples and oranges

Agree. Especially when they go small and play him at the 4/5. Having the ability to just switch ball screens is huge.

That's a commonly accepted thing I would argue. The guys with the most impact are usually bigs, which is help defense. And the warriors switch everything so where you start on defense isn't a huge deal.

To me Green is kind of the fulcrum of that and makes that work for them, which is why I would say he's most valuable defensive player in the league

Rim defense is more valuable. Gives green the edge.

You're comparing on-ball/perimeter defense against rim protection/help defense and the ability to switch 1-5.

I think that's why the Cavs give the Warriors some trouble. Normally you can just switch Klay or Draymond onto somebody and be okay. Switching those guys onto LBJ is a losing proposition. If Love can keep playing well he can give them issues too when the Warriors try to go small.

Then why does Kerr always have Iggy check LBJ. Green is a great defender but he's not on Kawhi's level.

Iggy has always been the closest thing to LBJ physically with enough athletism to chase him. No im not saying they are the same player or "tier" just Iggy has the best skill set available to defend LBJ.
