There's a reason why Hollinger isn't employed by any GM. His measures suck. They always have and always will.

You do realize Hollinger works for the Grizz?

They hired him in December and he then he told them to trade their best player.
Awesome.
Awesome.

come on man, those are basically not relevant, major stats are what people compare. PPG, rebounds, steals, blocks and shooting %

this isn't baseball and everyone knows baseball stats that in depth are for nerds

Rudy Gay was the Grizzlies best player. Marc Gasol is a beta to the max player. He's not going to take them to the next level. You don't toss aside a All-Star quality 20 point a night guy for fricking Tayshaun Prince.

Baseball is proof of that.

Baseball is not basketball. These stats are a fad and will pass.
Hell even for baseball, they don't mean jackshit. Just look at the last few WS winners.

with the obvious exception of total shooting percentage and whatever other statistics might suit a particular argument

Gamecock needs to take a stats class at his local community college

Along with some sort of logic/reasoning class.

Of all the people arguing about Bird and Magic and Kobe...who here actually watched Bird win his titles?
I'm not talking about Dream Team Bird...I'm talking about real Larry Bird winning his titles.
I bet not many...but you've sure seen a lot of Kobe highlights on Sportscenter.

So all stats are always relevant all the time?
You go ahead and buy into PER chief. A fool born every minute.

when Rudy Gay learns how to shoot the basketball again, let alone find a way to play within the team system AND do something other than jack up shots, get back to me.
Also, didn't Memphis two longest playoff runs occur when Gay was absent? (hint:they did)
Second- Rudy Gay when did he make an All-Star team?
Gasol is an All-NBA level player, the team is better off running things through him and Conely. The evidence is clear as day.
The Grizz did frick up,imo, letting Collins go.

This is who I have ahead of him in no particular order. 1. Jordan 2. Bird 3. Magic 4. Shaq 5. Wilt 6. Olajuwon 7. Karl Malone 8. Tim Duncan 9. LeBron 10. Grant Hill (pre injury) 11. Bill Russell 12. Jerry West 13. Oscar Robertson 14. Kareem 15. Dr. J
Did you see Grant Hill play for the first six years of his career? His averages were 20/7/7. Only Lebron, Bird and Robertson matched that during their first six years. His first six years were definitely better than Kobe's first and arguably as good as any six year stretch of Kobe's career.
Kobe is better than Shaq, Bird, Magic, Chamberlain, Robertson, Duncan, Olajuwon, Malone, Lebron and Duncan without a doubt? That's a stretch. You will be hard pressed to find many people who agree with you
