Basically, I'm an idiot because I said Harden isn't as good as LeBron, Wade, and Curry in the years they won a title.

And Harden as a 6th man, apparently.

Hardens defensive woes would be less exposed against bench players.

Might be a solid move

When you are as good as harden offensively you can be deficient in the other end and still be atop the league at the stats that do a good job of combining offense and defense.

See VORP for instance. Even tho harden apparently is the worst defensive player in the league he still has a higher VORP than
'Best two way player in the league' kawhi Leonard.

As bad as Harden looks defensively at times he doesn't seem to have much negative impact on the team as a whole. Basically any lineup that includes two traditional bigs (any combination of Dwight, Capela and Russell Crowe) was pretty good defensively regardless of who else was on the court.

It's when they've had to play Jones/Beasley at PF or tried to go small with only one big that they've been awful defensively.

Harden scores more points, has more assists, more rebounds, shoots a much higher percentage, and does it with a lower usage percentage than Iverson.

Yet stat-whores that love to measure as the end all be all to slant their argument conveniently leave out that DEFENSE is 1/2 of the game.

What good is it to score 27 free throws when your man gets 10 lay ups and 5 threes ?

Given his style, it would definitely be effective. I think volume shooters who can get to the line can be a great way to rest your starting lineup.

That being said, he's too talented. He is a starting guard.

Also don't forget that Ginobili is >>> Harden.

To illustrate my point:

Harden on with,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,DRTG,,,,,,,,,,,,MIN
Howard / Motiejunas,,,,,,,,100.9,,,,,,,,,,,,,328
Howard / Capela,,,,,,,,,,,,100.6,,,,,,,,,,,,,281
Capela / Motiejunas,,,,,,,,84.8,,,,,,,,,,,,,,75

That last one is a small sample size and wouldn't have held up over the course of the season but it's clear that their biggest issue over the was lack of frontcourt depth. Jones (114.8 DRTG on) and Beasley (113.3 DRTG on) were both awful defensively and tanked the team's efforts on that end with Motiejunas out for most of the season.

Probably won't make much difference against GS but I wouldn't play Beasley another minute in this series. Rotate Howard/Motiejunas/Capela with spot minutes to Smith matchups/FTs be damned.

seriously is the best 6th man possible.

his game is tailor made to be a 6th man. you can be a shitty defender as a 6th man. he also makes your bench look deeper than it is. you don't need to be 10 deep you need a starting five, harden + 4 dudes that can box out lol.

you let harden do exaclty what the frick harden does best for 15-20 mins a game and you are golden. then you bring the starting real actual players in
