If you make the cut, and are within 5-6 strokes of the leader, you have a shot.

That can be 10, sometimes 20 different people week in and out.

How many different winners last year? 30?

My 120 comment was a bit of hyperbole to illustrate my point that fields are deeper now. But 30 is stupid low. You should at yourself for that retarded comment. There are way more than 30 players in the field this week who have a PGA Tour win in past several years. And that doesn't take into account the number of guys who are rookies or 2nd year players yet to break through who are in the top 20 after 2 rounds, or journeymen type guys who finish high week in and week out. shite, the player who won this tournament last year is currently ranked 75th in the world. 120 is a bit high, but it's way closer than your 30.

Certainly appears safe from TW beating it.

Also, with the talent pool as broad as it is, and no absolute monsters (like TW was in his prime), I don't think it will happen anytime soon.

That said, while the field wasn't as big when Jack was playing and winning, he was up against heavyweights in the game.

Jack's record is safe.

Tiger needs 5 majors to beat Jack. That means he would need to have Phil Mickelson's career to do it. So you're basically asking that Tiger Woods, who is almost 40 and playing the worst golf of his career, to have a Hall of Fame career over the next 10 years.

The chances of that happening are pretty slim.

It's safe to say it won't be done by Tiger. If I could place a wager if Tiger will ever win another tournament (could be Sanderson Farms open), I would bet against him. Mentally, he has lost it and it doesn't appear that he will ever get it back. Never thought I would say that.

Golf is a lot different than any other sport,,,You would need to a have a guy Tiger-like For at least 15-17 years and dominate the whole time with a chance at Jacks record...Before thanksgiving 2009, I thought Tiger had a great shot at it...That's long gone.. And I see NO golfer with what Tiger once had on the horizon...

I wonder what Jack thinks about how Tiger's playing.

He said he thinks tiger would break it, but that was years ago.

I don't think jack would win 18 majors in today's climate. Maybe 12 or 14

Not the way he is playing NOW. But I would still say that back in the early 2000's that its still the same climate... I don't think you understand how GREAT Tiger was for that 5-6 year stretch......

Today's climate is packed with younger talent.
Back then it was Lee Janzen, O'Meara, and other weak old white guys.

Today, Speith and Reed have the climate elevated.
