Is it possible that OKC's loud arse fans are a disadvantage for the Thunder??

I realize the question sounds ridiculous at first, but hear me out.....
Obviously teams can feed off of the home court energy, but so can visiting teams as well. I've heard some of the greatest players ever say that they prefer to play on the road b/c of the gratification when shutting up opposing arenas.....and that's a lot of noise to immediately silence in OKC.
The main reason I ask is b/c several posters on here stated a Thunder home game was the loudest venue they've ever attended (including concerts, football, etc). Their heads were pounding and they couldn't think straight for 2+ hours straight. Maybe this could negatively affect the Thunder team over the course of a playoff run if they're getting headaches or dealing with constant, intense loud noise for long periods of time?
Also, it's not like football where the fans get loud while the visiting team is on offense giving a clear tactical advantage. In basketball they're loud the entire time giving no advantage other than raw emotion.
Again, just a question and something to think about....I'm not making a statement either way. I've never been to anything that loud for such a sustained period of time so I can only imagine.
tldr

Well they've yet to lose at home in the playoffs, so thus far, it's not much of a disadvantage.

Not only do they feed off of it, but they are completely used to it. I was just thinking last night, I'm not sure there's been much of a more intimidating atmosphere besides maybe Indiana during the Spike Lee vs Reggie Miller days.

dumbass. I hope this gets pinned to the top so everyone can laugh at you

And no, that's not the end of thread black and gold.....cause see I'm still posting after you. Even though they are undefeated it could still be a negative factor at times (regardless of their recent success)....especially over a long period of time. So it is worthy of discussion, and a better topic than Lebron's hairline or Stephen A. Smiff's opinions.

It's pretty cool.
But I'll also say, it doesn't mean much.
The extra added whatever isn't really adding this dimension to the play on the court like some have insinuated on the MSB recently.

I get what you're saying, but that has to suck when it seems like everything they are touching turns to Gold while you have a sea of blue screaming in their favor. And on the reg. Those fans are consistently loud and positive, even when the game means nothing.

From having played the game before, obviously not on a professional level, as a player you tend to tune out crowd noise. I know when I went into loud environments, I barely heard crowd noise. If a player pays attention to crowd noise, he'll lose focus.

well I'm sure those extra energized 4th quarter runs have nothing to do with it
They're undefeated. I believe Miami and their homecourt has only lost 1 game these playoffs. I don't think the difference is attributed to the crowd being louder.
Also, OKC had a better regular season record, seems like the majority think OKC is the better team, and yet Miami and their super shitty regular season home crowds had a better regular season record at home.
I'm not buying it like everyone else is.

Is OKC's arena louder than the Kings of the late 90's?

Not true. The crowd usually responds to a huge shot by the Thunder then gets its loudest when the visiting team has the ball.

I don't normally buy into shite like this either, but something special has happened in OKC. I don't think another city on the planet deserved a franchise as bad as them and the relationship between the fans and players is somewhat unique. I mean it's enough to keep a guy like Kevin Durrant who could have bailed arse to a larger market team. Also that Spurs series really showed me something. After game 2 I thought we were just gonna see a total sweep and thought OKC might be lucky to pull 1 out. That home stand really put some life back into them IMHO. Just my humble opinion though.

it's up there pretty close if it's not louder. The only difference is that OKC's fans are probably a lot classier.
Utah had some great home crowds too for a few years.

As an fan pulling for OKC in this series, I get a bit nervous when the crowd gets too into it. I get the impression that Westbrook gains this feeling of invincibility when the crowd is roaring. More often then not though, he's the player that responds the best to it.

Well being able to verbally communicate while on defense (ie: make switches on Pick n' Rolls) is key, so that'd be a disadvantage for the Thunder while at home then.....

And this was with teams that averaged three dunks per night. And two of those dunks were one handed throw downs by Malone. Imagine if they had some high rising fast break dunks to get the energized.

I don't think that's as much of a factor. Most of OKC's players are pretty disciplined and if they didn't have a high basketball IQ already, Scott Brooks made them have it(at least on defense). I think they know what they need to do and verbal communication is minimal.

I bet its not as loud as the hive on a wednesday night against the nets.
