Barely beat a shite Michigan team that was 6-6 last year.

This year’s team is for real.

And someone starts a thread....Is Alabama legit? They'd be laughed all the way to OT exile.

Alabama has talent literally all over the field, which Indiana doesn't have. Indiana has some really good players (and a great QB this season), but also 50 players who aren't good enough to be in the 3 deep at Alabama.

It doesn't mean Indiana can't win a national title or certainly compete for one, but it isn't just what you said. Talentwise they are not a top 15 team, and that always has counted for a ton in CFB.

Iowa had them beat and if not for Gronowski getting hurt and knocked out of the game in the 4th quarter would have won the game.

Ok. But who won?

Based off of what?

And let’s just entertain whatever sort of point you’re trying to make about “talent.” Who gives a shite lol

Michigan was not a good team last year, plain and simple. I have no idea how OSU lost to them.

Indiana looked like they didn’t belong on the same field as OSU and ND last year.

This year, they might be the best team in the country.

You can say all “well yea tbey lost to them but I don’t know how blah blah” and then just gloss over the fact that Indiana didn’t lol

Indiana is the real deal, imo.

The way things work, they’ll have to continue to earn the respect more afforded to “traditional” football powers by some.

Had that been a Bama or an Ohio State or a Georgia that had gone into Eugene last week and beat Oregon, many would be ready to crown that team Natty champs this year.

Indiana still has some work to do before some people are finally sold but absolutely impressive with what Cignetti has done in such a short time at a traditional “basketball school”.

By this logic, Northern Illinois is better than Indiana because they beat ND and Indiana didn’t.

The transitive property doesn’t work in college football, especially when rivalry games (like OSU vs Michigan) are involved.

I’m not using the transitive property to say Indiana is better than OSU or ND. I’m using their body of work to show that last year wasn’t just some weird fluke and they were a bad team.

I never said last year was a fluke, I’m saying that last year their schedule was dogshit bad outside of 1.5 games (Michigan’s defense was good) during the regular season.

Let me guess you probably think they have a 1.5 real schedule this year too! Think that’s enough internet for today!

Last years schedule was significantly easier than this years from a B1G perspective. They caught every historically bottom shelf B1G team last year and Michigan when it was at its worst point since before Harbaugh. The only difficult opponent they had was OSU.

This year they have a good Illinois, at Iowa, Oregon, and Penn State (crap team but historically the 3rd in the B1G).

It’s a much tougher schedule and the team as a whole looks better this year.

I’m not sure any team has a better resume than Indiana right now.

I know, but who did they beat last year? Their three best wins were over 7-5 Michigan, 6-6 Nebraska, and 6-6 Washington all at home. Their last 3 wins this season (home against Illinois, road against Iowa, and road against Oregon) are already better than their resume for all of last year. This year’s team is better in every facet than last year’s team. Literally they are scoring more points and getting more yards than last year while giving up less points and yards than last year despite the harder schedule.

Based off of NFL talent as per scouts. Based off talent as per 247 in the composite that takes transfers into account.

LINK

Their best prospects outside of QB are their WR who is likely a 2nd/3rd rounder, a tackle who is Kiper's 10th ranked tackle, an off ball linebacker who Kiper has at 8th at the position, and a 5'9'' corner who is the 7th ranked corner.

So again they have talent, but it's not top flight first 2 round talent at a ton of positions

You asked why they didn't have top flight talent. I told you.

I said they are good. I don't know what else you want. I will ban bet you they won't win the national title. You want to white knight for them?
