As someone who grew up in a house with a UNC alum(mom) and Dad who grew up 10mins from campus you post is false.
Just how close the schools are make them hate each other.
It has a southerners vs yankees feels b.c Duke has so many rich kids from the north east who go there.

Steelers fans gave zero fricks about Ravens fans until about 8 years ago or so.
Ravens fans have a chip on their shoulder to prove they can take on big brother Pittsburgh. Now its a full blown rivalry but at first it wasn't

Eh, I just don't think it's really that fierce. I could walk through Franklin Street with a Duke shirt on and it's not that big of a deal. Can't say the same if I wear a Virginia Tech shirt and walk through Morgantown. Probably have a few batteries chucked at me

Well the students do party with each other but the non unc students hate Duke
