Is Bubba Wallace a Token in NASCAR?

Recently, Jalen Rose who is an NBA analyst on ESPN, commented that he thought Kevin Love was a token white boy given a spot on the U.S. Olympics Basketball Team because they were scared to send an all-black team to represent the U.S. Though racist in itself, the comment didn't stir up the heads of ESPN as one would think in times of this woke culture that we must endure.
My question is: If that is the case, is Bubba Wallace, who is a mixed-race NASCAR driver, a token black boy? Look at his record...he is widely promoted though he seems to run in the middle of the pack or lower much of the time. His biggest claim to fame so far has been when he made the news over the "noose" found in his stall.
What say you?

Jalen Rose can make a dumb comment without you trying to one up him.

If he wasn't any good then I suppose he would be, but isn't he pretty decent? He wasn't marketed much before the garage noose hoax.

Middle of the pack of lower means you’re still good enough to race.

Was Jalen’s comment dumb? Yes.
Is Kevin Love one of the best 12 players we could have on team USA right now? I’ll go with no

And this is why we are where we are today. This woke society has placed double standards where there should be only one. If we are to go on as a country, the greatest country in the world I might add, we need to go as one. Our people should be together instead of taking sides and being divided.
I have lived through progress in race relations from the time I was a kid until now, and we were at a good place until the unfortunate death of George Floyd. That and the current administration has taken us back 60 years or so. We are just as divided today as the country was prior to the civil war.

It’s fair to say his race does help him, in a way. Similar to the whole Danica Patrick deal.

He's a token as far as marketing is concerned. They place him with the other top drivers during promos etc...But he is not even close to being a top driver. Good enough to race at the top level, sure...but, he shouldn't be one of the faces of the sport. Some would claim he could be marketed that way due to popularity alone, but he didn't even win the fan vote to get into the main at the all-star race. So, really, how popular is he?

Why would "they" be scared to send an all black team to the Olympics?

I say you’re wrong. He’s one of the most marketable race car drivers and recognizable to the general public that’s why he’s promoted, he makes money. Same as Rickie Fowler in golf, he’s solid middle of the pack and maybe the most promoted outside of pre injury Tiger. Or go back to Danica Patrick, Anna Kornikova, Freddie Couples (although he was pretty darn good), Dale Earnhardt Jr.

The best in the sport aren’t always the most marketable.

Probably because of all the white supremacy in Japan

I won't claim he isn't marketable. But, his marketability is nowhere near worthy of the push NASCAR is giving him. He was beaten out in the all-star fan vote by DiBenedetto. For those who don't know...for that vote, you have to consider that all of the actual popular drivers are already in the main event due to actually winning races (actual accomplishments)...so the fan vote is basically for mid-tier drivers, and he couldn't even win that.

Who cares?

If a black guy could blow the doors off everyone else in the Cup series, you can bet your arse Hendricks or one of the other teams would snap him up.

Well, I’m not a NASCAR guy so I guess my opinion doesn’t mean much but…. I would recognize Bubba Wallace walking down the street, conversely I’ve never heard of DiBenedetto before just now.

Yeah Danika was arse and universally hated by the other drivers.

Bubba actually seems to be well liked outside of the Jussie Smollett move.

He definitely has some popularity after the controversy last year. Especially with casuals and the like. But, the push he's given is just odd. It'd be like seeing a golf promo featuring Dustin Johnson, Jon Rahm, Rory Mac and then...Troy Merritt. One of those is not like the others, and that's basically Bubba Wallace. He's not Dale Jr popular or even Danica. So, without all of the odd stuff from last year, he doesn't get this push IMO. I liked him a lot before the nonsense he got involved with, so it's disappointing.
