If the category was:
Which football coach does the best with teams made up of one and two star HS recruits? Bill Snyder would be No. 1 and nobody else would even be close.
LSU's 3rd string has more HS stars than Snyder's starting lineup. That's why you don't see KSU players in the NFL. He is really good at picking the leftovers that other folks have thrown away and making a really good meal.

i really think you can make the arguement that no coach in say the last 50 years has done to a program what he has done
Bowden @ Fla State
Prior to Bowden's arrival, Florida State had a total of 150 wins. Bowden won over 300 games with the seminoles.

I always thought Bowden was overrated and never understood what made him a good coach.
You're out of your mind. He had to compete with UF, Miami, Georgia, Auburn and Alabama for regional recruits. What he did between 1987-2000 with 14 consecutive top 5 finishes is unprecedented.
......oh and did I mention the guy won more games than any Div 1 college football coach in history.
Yeah, he's overrated.

To be fair.. FSU started football relatively late. I think it was only their 30th season of football when Bowden came in, and then he coached for 34 seasons.

We played K State in the cotton bowl and i have never seen a team that sound defensively in my life. They just do not make mistakes. at all . Anywhere. They are never not in position, they don't miss tackles. They don't blow assignments.

frick Joe Paterno.
And, as much as I hate him, Nick Saban HAS to be on that list.
This, but the same applies to Paterno as well. No matter what he did, it doesn't erase what he did on the field, so he probably still makes the list. Though no one is happy about putting him there.

And clearly, unlike Les Miles and his staff, Snyder preaches preparation and striving to improve. I've never seen K-State unmotivated for a game.
You could argue that the North Dakota State game last season is a good example of something lacking in Snyder's philosophy, but they were breaking in a new quarterback by trying to run the same style of offense that Klein was so effective in--which still isn't working as expected--and NDSU isn't necessarily a rent-a-win.
