Brought the kid to Wrigley for a game over spring break. Not sure why I thought it would be less expensive than a Saints/ Pels/ LSU game but damn was I wrong.
$15 domestic/ $17 craft beer
$10 hot dog
$14 chicken tender
$8 pretzel
$8 soft drink
It’s a revenue stream and they’ve got a captive audience. They’re going to pay the price for what they want

Life is becoming more luxurious.
If people pay it then they gonna charge it

But they are throwing luxurious punches and yelling obscenities with clear diction. A higher class of Philly fan.

We go to one of our n grubs near ballpark. Have a decent meal, then take their tram to game. frick $30 for parking. And 50-70. For food and drink. And it's mediocre ball park food

I have a family of four, we can go to Nuggets, Avalanche, or Rockies games for $150 in tickets and another $100 or so in food, if we choose to eat there.

That’s a lot of money for most people
if 250-300 to go to the game is a lot of money for you as a family then you have no business going. stop complaining about it being so expensive and understand where you are as a family financially.
we stopped and went to the braves phillies game on a saturday couple weeks ago and for 6 of us, tickets were under $250. not amazing seats but not the worst and was still a great view. We could have eaten before hand to save money and just had waters at the game and been under $300 if we wanted to.
if i couldnt afford that then i certainly wouldnt run to the internet and complain, i would simply understand where we are financially as a family and either accept it or work to improve it.
its simple supply and demand. Most corporate buyers arent buying the tickets in the upper secitons, that individuals. Teams are going to make as much profit as they can, thats the nature of business.

I don't attend many pro sports but college football games have gotten absolutely insane.
They have priced out the blue collar, working class fans who support the program through thick and thin.
They are often the loudest and most passionate fans too.
Now the stadium is full of wealthy boomers and the country club type fans who sit there and golf clap occasionally and are mostly there to be seen and post on social media.
ok so the school should artificially keep the prices low and make less money so they can put a shittier product on the field so joe blow welder can go?
yall make no fricking sense. its simple supply and demand.

No it’s not
yes it is
are they selling the tickets? from the teams perspective, they do not care who buys it, corporate or individual. are the tickets getting sold?
the answer is obviously enough of them are or they would lower the price to get more people there.

Colleges give students tickets for free or way under market value. So, even though you said it twice, no, it is not simple supply and demand.
I truly can’t imagine what it’s like going through life as a fricking imbecile.

so your argument is about student tickets? you understand outside the SEC and Big10 and even in some of those, students subsidize athletics right?
but im the imbecile
either way...we were not even talking student tickets. we were talking about the blue collar worker. So the school can sell all the tickets for $100 a piece but they should artificially hold the price down and make less money to so they can have less money to spend on players and coaching?
then yall would bitch about that.

No, we were talking supply and demand, of which does not exist in a fundamental way with sports tickets.
Now that you realize this, you’re going to move the goalposts instead of just admitting you were wrong

Ie under true supply and demand principles, tickets are priced too high and would be lowered. You’re arguing against yourself! What an idiot!

im not wrong dumbass. your retort to supply and demand is that schools carve out a section for student tickets
so is your argument that they should do that for the blue collar fan? because they kind of did with the standing room only tickets....yet people complain because they cant afford sideline tickets.
its funny because you act like your rich and brag about it, but you constantly complain about pricing of everything.
its very simple to everyone in this thread...if you dont like the pricing of tickets, dont go, if enough do that the prices will come down.
same argument for concessions. you dont need a hot dog and a beer or a coke. buy a water if its hot or dont buy anything and if enough do, the prices will come down.
people complaining about the fancy stadiums...thats fine, but understand you are in the minority of like old stadiums(im there with you btw) and that when competing with tv, they have to offer something that different. the old stadium wasnt working to draw crowds.

no im not. before tv contracts got to the current size, students subsidized the athletic department. some schools have kept that student athletic fee to off set the lower ticket prices.
pretty simple....if people stopped buying tickets to LSU games, they would lower the price. we see that often with the OOC games when they are not selling.
so again...explain to me how im the idiot.

You are truly an idiot. You can’t argue supply and demand rules the day when there are thousands of tickets sold/given away well under market value.
Extremely simple concept

again....those tickets are subsidized in student fees
but again...take that part out...what about the rest of the stadium... the 80% of the stadium that does go by supply and demand?
such a simple concept yet you want to ignore it and focus on one little section of the stadium that gets tickets below market value for a variety of reasons, most notably to avoid negative publicity but also because its used as a recruiting tool for academics which makes way more money than the athletic side. but i guess im the idiot because i actually look at the whole picture and dont focus on one little thing to try and win an argument.
for being in finance...you fricking suck at it.

You can’t, it nullifies your entire argument, which is the point.
Thanks for admitting you were wrong
