I don't know why but I have always thought of the Giants as "boring" since I was a kid. Even now, when they throw it way too much I still consider them one of those bland teams that I just can't get interested in.

Because the idea of having Odell put on a highlight is enticing to them.

It was sort of the same with the Saints being on primetime so much despite having some mediocre seasons. High powered offense and a lot of scoring is good for ratings

Of course, but this is an issue with every sport. I'm tired of watching the dreadful Knicks and Bulls 30 times a season on TNT as well.

Always get bummed out whenever I see SNF involves the Giants. Don't really care who they're playing, the Giants are just so boring.

That's really my reaction to any NFC East team, to be honest.

NFL puts Cowboys and Giants on primetime 14 times a year.
Announcers remind us how great their players and stadiums are ad nauseam.
Their players appear in all the commercials.
They are the #1 topic of conversation on EVERY radio talk show, ESPN "debate" show, and NFL pregame show.
Lions and Seahawks play in primetime. Mouth-breathers and starfricker fans don't know anything about them, so they're "boring." They don't watch. Ratings go down.
Cowboys or Giants play in same time slot one week later, ratings go up. See? Everybody LOVES America's Team!
We get more Cowboys and Giants next year. And the entire circle-jerk continues.

It's called conditioning and agenda setting. I promise you, if the Lions played on national TV 10 times a year, Matthew Stafford was in half a dozen commercials, and Stephen A. and Skip wanted to know "WHAT'S WRONG WITH THE LIONS????????????????????" every morning, the Lions would clobber the ratings too.

It's going to be funny next week. The Cowboys and Cardinals are playing on MNF. The ratings will be down from the first couple of weeks. Nobody will blame it on the Cowboys' mediocrity or "Cowboy Fatigue." It'll be because "Nobody wants to see them play the Cardinals. They want to see them play the Giants or Redskins!"

I grew up in the 80's.

The NFC East- Cardinals, Cowboys, Giants, Eagles, Redskins- were the CBS national game every f'ing Sunday.

They will always be the most-televised teams because of national media focus in the northeast.

I was thinking the same thing. So, I looked up how much they are on Primetime. It's 4 times. One a Thursday night game, which every team has. You know you are going to get one Cowboys Giants game. So, that leaves two more times that they selected. For this team, it's probably too much, but it's not crazy for a New York team.

This doesn't include 3:25 "America's Game of the Week" on Fox, which ALWAYS involves an NFC East team or the Packers (such as Cowboys/Broncos last week), and goes out to the entire country, minus some random AFC West city that's playing at the same time on CBS.

And then there's flex scheduling. A few years ago, NBC opened the season with Giants/Cowboys, and then they flexed Cowboys/Giants week 17 because it had playoff implications.

Last year, the Cowboys played on national television literally every week from Thanksgiving to Christmas. It's ridiculous.
