Those five laps must seem like eternity to those drivers.

Guy died in qualifying and then the next day Ayrton Senna died mid race. I don't understand how those other drivers could even get into their cockpits to finish the race given the situation.

Very sad day today. RIP Wheldon

That was played over the LVMS PA system.

In this day and age, you can get any song in seconds over the internet.

I thought it was a nice touch.

I'm not a racing fan. I have no idea who Dan Wheldon is. I but I cut away from the Saints game to witness what was going on here and saw the cars final 5 laps with the bag pipes. That was one of the saddest things I've seen in quite some time.

As a sports fan, this is painful to see and hear about.

You could just hear the emotion in Marty's voice as he said that, it shook me up too.

Buddy just texted me and said it was up to the drivers to call it, if I was a driver I would have said frick that let's finish, he would have wanted us too like any of us would want them to do if it was our turn

Wasn't there like 15+ cars involved too though? I imagine that puts the drivers in a precarious position when a bulk of the guys (and according to some other folks here the guy 2nd in points) was involved and wouldn't be able to finish.

RIP Wheldon. Awful, awful stuff.

I would say that the LAST thing I'd want to do is drive around the same track where my friend just died, with that on my mind, and at speeds over 200 mph.

No thanks.
