Indiana vs Nebraska is yet another reason rankings should not begin until October

Indiana’s schedule:
North Texas
Howard
W. Kentucky
Northwestern
Rutgers
Nebraska’s schedule:
Ohio
Bowling Green
North Dakota
Michigan St
Maryland
They are both 5-0, have played putrid schedules, yet Indiana is #7 and Nebraska unranked.
Indiana is most likely going to win, but this is a back and forth game. These teams look even.
Defending champions should not get the benefit of the doubt just because of last year. Indiana should be unranked if Nebraska is.

So they’d just rank them the same way a few weeks later.

Calling Indiana overrated before they play Ohio State next week is a choice

Well then how do you plan to stop independent operations from producing their own polls?
People will still want to put numbers/rankings on teams, so there can be upsets and gambling, most of all

We don’t really. AP and coaches don’t mean anything for the CFP

Indiana is going to get destroyed by Ohio state

Probably. Simply because IU is currently the better brand name (imagine a time traveler from the 1990s seeing that.)
Nebraska and Pitt probably would be ranked if the first poll came out Monday. Indiana would be about where they are now because pollsters aren't sold that they're the real deal.

These early rankings are what props up the sec

And even if they do it doesn’t matter and they will still make the playoffs. The game is meaningless with the rest of their schedule the way it is.
Game is completely meaningless in 12 team playoff and will be a literal nothing game in 24 team playoffs. College football is snoozer now

How else would the shite arse big 10 get so many teams in the top 10 if we didn’t do it pre-season?

Who do you rank in front of Indiana?
Ole Miss who got drummed by a team that just lost to South Carolina and mizzou two weeks in a row?
Oregon who lost to a team that lost to Tulsa?
BYU? Texas Tech?
