That's what I was waiting for. That cut fastball from Maddux is one of the best pitches I've ever seen.

It's a nasty pitch, no doubt. However, the camera angle makes it look nastier than it really is.
That, coupled with the fact that Gregor Blanco is a pussy, takes away from the greatness of the pitch.

Right, but that's the perception the batter is getting. That's why he reacted like he did

The single most impressive part about this is that they do this with basically no raised seams on the ball. Its phenomal. I played ball in college and getting used to the seams can be difficult for guys in general much less pitchers. They use that special mud in the majors to scuff up the balls a bit, but its still crazy what they can do. They aren't using any Diamond D1s
I also agree that what Greg Maddux could do with that cutter was a spectacle to watch.... could work both sides of the plate with that pitch. He dominated and was mid to high 80s. Mostly mid...

Yep. Maddux's fastball was steadily 86-88. And his follow through put him in a perfect position to field the ball, partly the reason for all his gold gloves.

Mike Scuff had a filthy splitter.

No it wasn't. In his last few years but not in his prime

Thats crazy. Still don't know how that ball did that.
I still think Darvish has one of the best curves in baseball.

I love every single gif you just posted. Greg Maddox was one of my favorite pitchers of all time

If you are talking about the GIFs above, none of the pitches shown in those GIFs is a cutter.
