So iI could just knock the ball all the way to the one yard line and just down it there?
But if it rolls into the EZ...

Correct me if I'm wrong.
It will always be spotted where it was originally touched except in circumstances like the TCU situation where guys are tossing it back from continuing into the EZ. That situation requires a controlling of the ball.

So punt team touches at 30 and ball some how rolls out of endzone it comes out to the 30 not the 24 for a touch back?

Are you getting the feeling the ref fricked one up in the 2nd half vs ISU? Cuz I sure am.

In that situation, it should be spotted at the 30, and not the 20.
If the officials miss the original touching, it would have to be reviewed for the touching to be verified.

That was my thought but cramer is indicating recieving team gets ball at first touch as worse case. Since it went in ez then it comes out to 25 which is better than the 2. Not sure thar is correct though. Also in the vid you posted ball crossed GL but ball player touching it was still in field of play reaching over. This contradicts another posters assumptions

The 24 was typo meant 25
Punt touch backs come out to 25 just like KO right? Cause they did in the tcu game sat.
Were you at game YIT?

You can see the ref tossing the white beanbag to the 3 yard line when the first guy touches it... before it even gets close to the goal line.
ETA:
It lands to the left of the "G" as the ball is getting hot-potato'd.

No... but I need to get on my horse for one of the next ones. I think I owe you a beer or something.

There are exceptions to where it is spotted.
If someone touches it, and it continues to roll for positive punt yardage, it is returned to the spot where it was first touched.
If someone touches it, and it bounces back for negative punt yardage, it will be placed at spot where they control it.

It goes to the 20.00000001 if it's touched there first and goes into the endzone.
Imagine pushing a punt from the 40 to the endzone to push the other team back to the 20. Makes no sense.

It was really buggin' ya, I take it.
Weather's perfect. Happy hunting.

But if touched inside of 20 and goes in ez it is touchback. Right?
Posted on 10/12/12 at 5:06 pm to yurintroubl
Yes and thanks.
Those two back to back pf were bugging me too but one was a good call and the other was horrible. And that was grounding no matter how much the ISU coach dropped the fbomb on the refs
Lol
Isu was just better team that day though

Their LBs are studs. Wouldn't mind the Saints grabbing one early Day 3.

And there one DE all very good. I was impressed. I liked the lil reverse toss too. Well executed and timed.

Assuming the ball has not been touched prior to the gif...
Beanbag is to mark illegal touching by the kicking team
The ball crosses the plane of the GL so the receiving team has 2 options; take the ball at the spot of illegal touching or TB so obviously they take it at the 20
Not sure why the BJ doesn't stay on the GL; that's where he should be
Posted on 10/12/12 at 5:35 pm to arrakis
The call was that TCU had control of the ball when it was first touched at the 3... So that's where the ball was spotted.
