other sport, what would you do differently?

They tried the overhead cam... no big revolution there.

ETA: I've got a couple ideas, but I want to hear some of yours first.

i'd implant a camera in the quarterback's eye so we can see what he sees.

personally i like the camera angle from behind the offense. Its like a quarterback view. Which also would be cool a camera on QBs helmet. Then again i like the overhead shots.

The best thing would be being able to choose your own camera angle. This would NEVER happen in the NFL though, as they wont even let people see the overhead all 22 players view.

Chose your own camera and do multiple camera views.

Video and audio from each player.

I like the idea of a cam on/in the QB's helmet. Seems simple enough.

My fav view in a car race is the in car or roof cam. I wish they'd show it more. (Networks seem to love that shot during wrecks... I like seeing it at full speed racing)

I'm way to ADD to have multiple cameras. I'd be switching trying to decide which I want to see.

A QB helmet camera would be sweet. If they somehow would place it inside the helmet with a plastic see through casing on it. Be apart of the helmet, just smooth and natural looking, but a small camera that they can pick the feed up to on TV and show on a replay from time to time.

Would be amazing I think.

The #1 thing i would do though, is tell my announcers to talk LESS.

Its not necessary to fill every second of live TV with conversation. It leads to stupid things being said, dumb/false observations, stemming from the apparent need to fill every second with something.

When watching online, SNF on NBC allows you to choose which camera you view at any given point in the game, right?

Anyway, It would be fun to have a station with mic'd up players as you watch the game. Much more enjoyable than listening to the commentators drone on about the same things over and over again.

A player cam in just about any sport would be awesome as well.

Yea, I think I irritate my "guests" often when I just turn the volume to barely audible...

Especially on games that aren't LSU or Saints. I'd usually rather talk to my friends than listen to the commentators.

I'd eliminate commercial breaks except during halftime, and instead have companies pay for time to "sponsor" a block of time. No more TV TOs. During a called TO, have the booth talk about recent plays, etc. Maybe cut away to a highlight from another game.

The halftime show will have a former player from each team giving his keys to the game based on what he's seen during the game. Then have a quick recap of the rest of the league, and return to the game.

No bells, no whistles. Pregame show would be more like a mix of NFL Matchup and the two Playbook shows. Small panel, stick to analysis, with a quick prediction of each game. Make it a 2 hour show so that all games are covered.

Sideline reporters stick to talking about injuries and tactical items that they may notice from their vantage point. If they lack the knowledge, they don't get the job. No stupid questions to the coach as he runs to the tunnel. In fact, don't waste our time with that shite.

That's where I'd start.

I think it would have to be a pay subscription or something, cause probably Rated R... to have full audio.

I'm guessing the NFL won't allow that to ever happen... too much being said that would kill their image. All that would end up on youtube too.

That said... I think there's still room to do much more audio than do now. (at least on replays and later highlights)

On the announcer bit, I wish the NFL would let you have an option to watch the game with the local broadcast team of your choice.

I like some of your ideas and pretty much all of the camera ideas.

Less announcers, less talking, more cheerleader shots, more people who have actually played and/or coached the game on air. If you haven't played or coached it, I don't give a shite what you have to say about the game.

What do you mean by this? (as if I have the power to implement your ideas)

Either have their logo in the box where the score is, or on the ticker, or have the announcer say, "this segment is brought to you by <brand>".

This is why watching NHL or soccer can be more enjoyable to me sometimes. NHL I think limits commercial breaks to 3 per period for a max of 120 secs for each. And there are rules as to when the breaks are allowed. No commercials on powerplays or after goals.

On the flip side, NFL takes a minimum 10 commercial breaks per half.
