If you were a ref and wanted to cheat in football how would you do it?

For whatever reason I got to thinking about this the other day. I would hire about 5-10 guys and assign each a different player to watch the whole game. Having them all micd up so that any of them could talk to me throughout the game.

If any of them seen something I missed that could even remotely be called a penalty without raising suspect to the cheating they could hit me up.

On any given play in football you can almost always be assured a flag can be thrown if looking hard enough. This way you can flag the crap out of one team, cause them to lose, but still make it seem like they blew it themselves.

You might not always cause a certain team to lose or win but you could certainly severely handicap any team any time.

Maybe I’m Donny and I’m way out of my element here, but just a thought.

Every time a team scored, I'd give the points to the other team.

Watch what Bama's refs do and emulate it. They're pros.

Don't make it harder than it needs to be.

How do you think they do it so effectively? Like what’s their strategy you think? And how many of them are in on it? All of them?

One guy's manager distracts me while he loads up his boot with a foreign object.

I'd call extra contact fouls in the first three minutes of a half or early quarter, against favored teams, ideally on members of their closing lineup. That will change rotations and free throw situations mid and late game, completely independently of my act. Everyone watches for you giving that superstar call two seconds late in the last minute of the 4th-- nobody give a damn about the holding/contact foul you call in the 2nd, if it is imperfect, its just because you suck as a ref, not because you are being actively dirty.

Yes they’re all in on it. Ex players are finally coming forward and exposing the scripted NFL.

They make some unnoticeable ear pieces these days. I don’t think that part would be too difficult. I could be wrong.

Football, or any sport really where you have a actual strategy of how to do it effectively. Just curious if anyone has any actual thoughts on the idea of cheating or how they would do it.

Referee a game with a close pioint spread. Place a large wager on the underdog. Call offensive holding penalties on the opposing team anytime you need to.

Like someone else said, bet the underdog and call a few holding penalties to stall some drives.

If it is a big championship game I would have the DB clobber the receiver when the ball is halfway to him then keep the flag in my pocket.
