I think the map just shows that the majority of people, in a vast majority of our population centers are tired of the left and mandated a change.

I think a big, simple thing people miss with those maps are that people who are more likely to get actual benefits from the government are just more likely to vote for bigger government.

Yes, welfare is part of that.

But its also public transit, and other programs people in cities have access to that you just don't see in rural areas.

The only experience most people in rural areas have with the government is the taxes taken out of their paycheck, and probably a young relative or someone in their town that they sort of know dying in Iraq or Afghanistan for a dumb war. And people find it surprising that those people don't care if government got completely dismantled? lol

OK, guess we'll judge all liberals by the fricking loons at DU if we're not trying to be serious.

At best you speak a half truth. That is like 10 vocal loonies that you're projecting over the population. We can play that game if you want, but that's not a realistic representation of teh average voter.

No shock you're trying to downplay your crazies though.

I think it shows how much our society has declined as a whole.

Used to be an honor as an American citizen to meet the president and it’s a shame it’s not still this way.

I don’t care who I voted for or not voted for. If I had an opportunity to shake the president’s hand, I would.

It’s a lot closer than you want to admit. Post something [not anti-Trump, but simply mildly questioning one of his proposals] on the Politics board and see how reasonable his fanbase is.

i have for 8 years. i'm just not an a-hole about it. I'm a 2/6 time Trump voter.

some are cult members for sure, but that's the same DU or Reddit.

My point is that both parties are opposite sides of the same coin. Every accusation is a confession, and that goes for both sides.

Any teams skip Biden or Obama visits? Legitimately asking.

ETA You've got to stop upvoting yourself immediately

I don’t know, but surely you can spot some differences in those administrations and Trump’s.

There is no reasoning with people like you.

ETA Can you explain why you and whatiknow upvote your own posts? Do you think it does something for you? This isn't reddit.

i've called this as the disconnect in rural and urban for a while.

i grew up in the middle of the cotton field in west Texas. my relationship with the government was good public schools and paved roads.

somebody my same age growing up in NYC needs good public schools, transportation, housing code (some dude remodeling his bathroom above me could ruin my apartment,) public spaces, libraries, parks, policing, EMS services etc.

by the age of 18 I have an entirely different relationship with the government: local, state, or federal than an urban 18 year old.

How am I not being reasonable?

All I’ve pointed out is that both sides are flawed in many of the same ways. Biden’s admin was mostly useless, but not in a memorable way. We’ll have to see how Trump 2.0 turns out, but I find many of his policies regressive, and sometimes downright cruel. That’s just my opinion, and it isn’t worth any less than yours.

I'm sure you have a totally rational and logical reason that Trump's admin has been so very different than Biden and Obama's

You forgot about farmers getting subsidies. There are also federal workers who live in rural areas too. They are all about to get screwed over these days.

The Obama/Biden admins were much more tame, establishment-friendly administrations. Trump behaves as if he wants to blow the entire government up. That’s a pretty stark difference IMO.

So where is the rational and logical reason sports teams should be declining invites? Seriously, list some specific actual things, not nonsense platitudes.

I’m pretty sure the article laid out their reasons for declining invitees. Those reasons may not seem rational or logical to you, but they also aren’t subject to your approval.

So nothing but bullshite OMB nonsense, just as I suspected. And how surprising you chose not to list any actual things.

This is a good point. It was super brave of them to stand up against something that is almost nonexistent.
