He's a diva, who's gotten coaches fired, whines about calls, and is a world class flopper.

How about 4th quarter stats? I think a big knock on him by many is him disappearing or being passive at times. When he is in attack mode good things happen that can rarely be defended.

then as the NBA grew, the media created "Michael Jordan". then there was PERFECT timing where he wins right before the US National Team can have pros, leading to the Dream Team and all that glory. really just a combination of everything falling in place (media push, getting lucky that a team was built around him worthy of a championship, the olympic push, all while the NBA became huge, etc)

The push from Nike, also coinciding with the growing popularity of hip hop created a supernova. It was the first time people of all races had the same sports hero and musical taste( people who were between 13-20 in the late 80's).

LeBron is the ultimate top 5 #1 pick for fans being undecided about him as a true Alpha sports hero.

Most arguing he seems to be missing a sports chromosome. The Gen Jones/Gen X Chromosome.

Instead he got the local gym Gen-Y malaise - lets all be friends chromosome.

Regardless, Bird, Magic, Jordan, LeBron...I'm watching the 3 guys before him, ahead of him...it was just so much more fun and clutch and ruthless battles. Those guys really went to war back then. It was a joy to watch.

LeBron plays pick-up basically treats opponents as beer buddies.
