re: If Tiger had an ounce of integrity he would DQ himself from the Masters

Bottom line is tiger knows damn well he should be DQ for signing an incorrect scorecard. This was not an impersceptible movement of the ball while addressing a putt that only slo month HD could detect. This was obvious and Tiger admitted what he did in the interview....how much evidence could you need???

LOL at people thinking Tiger makes the Masters. We all know Tiger is a big draw, but the Masters is big enough on its own, and if you haven't noticed, they absolutely do not give a shite.

ratings have been at the highest levels in history
Last years masters was one of the lowest rated masters in last twenty years.
All ratings fell precipitously when he fell out of contention on the weekends.

It interests me when ratings diverge from sports. Last years Masters was awesome, considering you had so many fan favorites in it at the end. Also, if you don't think the ending was legendary, then you're crazy.
Ratings are important, but it isn't like they're going to start renegotiating TV contracts. The Masters prints money. They could print more too, they just don't.

I agree with the OP... Had he not gained an advantage, I would be okay with the 2 stroke penalty... But he admitted moving back gave him a better yardage. Should be DQ'd
I'm a Tiger fan fwiw

Goes 2 ways
He wd's and shows golf is above him. Gaining a ton of fans
He plays and shows he is bigger than golf and loses tons of fans
I think he wd's

I think they ruled fairly on Tiger but if you don't think the impact of DQing Tiger wasn't discussed in that meeting then you are naive my friend.
Not saying that was the reason for their ruling, just that it was considered.

No, this is why golf is great. Rules are rules. Black and White. In this case, however, Im sure a little favoritism is being shown for Tiger. Ignorance of the rules, especially for players at this level, should not be an excuse to be allowed to continue playing.

It probably came up. But I think they care more about how it reflects on the Masters and AN than the TV aspect. They're a different breed.
Could charge 1000 for badges and don't. Could charge 10 bucks for beers and 100 dollars for t shirts and they don't. Could show it live on networks from sunup to sun down but they don't. They're like the Chickfila of golf.

Actually I think they misapplied a new rule to save tiger.
It appears the rule is there for those who unknowingly broke a rule with no intent to seek an advantage. Tiger broke a rule seeking an advantage and admitted it on TV.
Tiger should withdraw from the tournament.

Rules are kindaish rules. I think it's mountains from molehills for ratings. Fake drama for a boring game with vague rules.

I don't think Tiger's fans care much about integrity.

or the game of golf in general for that matter. 90% of them are not golf fans and do not understand the game.

The sad thing is, Tiger could win 25 majors and yet this would somehow invalidate him beating Jack. I wish he would just WD and get it over with.
