If, and everyone I know it is a big if. Would you regard him as the best golfer of all time?

THIS IS COMPLETELY HYPOTHETICAL

So don't tard it up with no he'll never break it comments.

This is what I am wondering, as many people hate him for his character, on course antics, etc.

He will own that record. He will break Sneads record soon. He's 3rd all time on the European tour in victories, I think. He changed the way golf was viewed. Also, he has countless other records like making his 16th straight masters cut this weekend. Thats another jack record broken.

It wasn't as to say I know Tiger will break the record, I want to know if people would consider him the greatest, even though alot don't like him for various reasons.

I think he already is the greatest, he revolutionized the sport. PGA golfers today are way better on average than they were even 15 years ago, that's not only bc of tiger but he helped. It's no longer just a bunch of out of shape white guys.

I agree with that, but most people will point to records to name someone the GOAT

If he does break the record there is room to call both the greatest. Jack's record was was accomplished with prehistoric Neanderthal golf equipment, no technology re diet, exercise, noone mapped and recorded details and scouted golf courses like they do today. Hell, half the field I guarantee has already been out to the US Open course (wherever) it is this year to mark distances, scout greens etc

Back in the day, they just showed up and played.

To answer your question, can you really definitively make a differentiation?

I'm not sure, but those are very valid points.

I just wonder if people will still claim Jack to be the greatest because they liked him more.

Does this even matter if everyone is using the same advantages in their eras? If it does matter, then wouldn't it be even more impressive that Tiger did it with the rest of the field using every advantage possible?

For the first time ever I don't think Tiger is going to do it. There's just too many talented young golfers around now for him to win more than 2 or 3 more.

If Tiger breaks his record? No, but I sure as hell wouldn't leave jack's name out. It would be 1 and 1a

and then 3.

Since golf is so much more competitive now, tiger is already the goat

I guess you didn't read my original post, this is for a hypothetical if he DOES break the record.

I can agree with this, with arguments being made for either one.

If Tiger breaks Jack's record, there is absolutely no doubt that he'd be the GOAT. I think Tiger is already the most dominant ever. No one has ever been more dominant than Tiger. Jack has him on longevity for now, but that's it.
