if tiger grew up playing with the old equipment, why would you expect him to fair any worse than he does today?

dude, tiger played with the old equipment when he was a junior and still kicked arse. tiger dominated every level of golf, no matter equipment or competition.

With the same equipment Jack Is Better than Tiger. Tiger is too emotional. Jack is just smooth.IMO. YES TIGER had the most DOMINANT run in Golf History but played against lesser comp IMO.

so tiger basically had to compete against himself and still destroyed course records, even after the course had been made more difficult, without anyone pushing him

you sorta made my point for me. hell and i cant stand tiger

I said he was dominant.

Thats the KEY, WHO really pushed him compared to who was pushing Jack??? Think about it. NOW TIGER Doesn't have IT anymore and can't handle it. It showed BIG TIME this weekend. GROW UP Tiger. I lost a huge amount of respect for him after this week.

you are never gonna convince old people that jack isn't the best ever, even when tiger breaks his major record

at this point, nothing he does will probably ever make him a more important golfer than palmer or jack.

I think he already has meant so much more to the game than those 2. What Golf is today, is because of what Tiger made it. The equipment is better, you have better players, bigger purses, More television coverage. As much as people hate Tiger, he changed the game of golf.

so tiger could win everything and destroy course records - with nobody pushing him.
in other words, he didnt have to beat the course records to win the tourney - he just did it because he could.

there is a reason that records get set when competing against decent competition. you have to not only want it, but NEED it.
tiger never needed it.

jack did.

therefor tiger's accomplishments would be superior to jack's if the hypothetical in the OP came about

you have better players,

name someone who is only golfing today because of tiger

bigger purses, More television coverage

these go hand in hand, and were influenced by tiger's popularity, ill give you that.

who hates jack? nobody.
jack and arnold will always be golf's favorite sons. tiger has relinquished any claim to that crown.

i've always had a feeling that jack is a lot like mickleson, nice when the camera is on,and a raging a-hole when it's not.palmer,on the other hand, seems like a genuine, decent human being

I am gonna save this. He WIIL NOT break Jacks record. Anyone who thinks this is fooling themselves. To many golfers have caught UP to Tiger. Face IT Nowdays Tiger is just a top 50 golfer. Just sayin. Winning even ONE major will be hard for him. NO way he wins 5 more. NO WAY.

i've heard this every time tiger has gone 2 years without winning one. i will never count out any guy with that kind of short game.that's the same reason mickelson can win any major he tees it up at

I have no proof, but I think it went at an accelerated rate so people could catch up to Tiger.

I don't have a single name but I think as a whole golfers are better athletes because they saw how good Tiger was being pretty much the only athlete on tour.

Basically the whole point of this thread. People that hate Tiger still won't call him the greatest, for various reasons.

when other tour pros think he will win 25 majors still, i tend to believe he has a chance to break it.

If he does it I'd have to grit my teeth and call him the greatest ever. I don't think he can do it though he is just not the same player he once was. I just think he will keep being that guy who will have 1 good tourney ever so often.

I am NOT gonna say he DIDN't make a huge difference, But if it weren't for Jack And Arnie there would be NO tiger. I know you are young and were not around to watch the amount of fanfare that BOTH Jack and Arnie created. It was a different generation.Kinda like how the music in the late 60's sparked the great groups of the 70's.

I can understand that. I think Tiger brought a broader fan base to the game. Whether that is good for golf can probably be debated.

Forget if he will or he won't for a second. If he did break the record would Tiger be the greatest ever?
