But to offer a max contract Dallas has to make a couple moves,.

If they have to mAke moves in order to get enough space to sign one max contract, how do you think they are going to sign 2 max players?

They had the cap space to do that at the time. All 3 of those guys took fractions less than max deals.

To get Howard and CP3 one would have to sign for significantly less than a max deal.

Not sure.

But if Dirk takes the paycut he's been rumored to say he's willing to take, they would likely have enough under the cap for ANOTHER max contract after next year...hint hint.

This. You'd have the ball handler, the post presence, and the ultra long, legit shooting wing. It'd be a significantly better fit than the Lakers train wreck.

Go look up how many games he has played and started this season, how many minutes each game, and then get back to me.

Howard played with Kobe, Gasol and Nash and barely got a 6 seed. Any team with him on it will not be the favorite to win anything.

Assuming the Mavs picked up a decent role player or two to support Howard/Dirk/CP3 they could be favored over Durant and Westbrook IMO. Are the Grizzlies in decent cap position to keep what they have or add another piece? I'd think the Spurs will be relevant next year but not the best in the west.

Gasol and Nash both missed over 30 games.
