I really wanted the other guy to respond, because I know where he is getting those numbers. But he is using them wrong. If Durant does the one year contract in OKC or elsewhere, next summer he can either resign with OKC for 6/228 or another team at 5/176 (LINK Now, that looks like he is giving up 50M if he leaves OKC. But the yearly average is less than 3 million, if you compare both contracts (228/6=38, 176/5=35.2). I'm sure nobody is assuming that he would play that 6th season for free, if he went elsewhere.

Even if he did something beyond stupid like sign a one and done contract and blew out his knee, he would get max money a year from now.
