Baseball isn't a contact sport like football is. These guys don't make a lot of contact with each other, at least not anywhere near as much as football.

And we already see baseball is failing.

How the hell is football going to proceed in September without a bubble concept? And without a vast expansion of rosters? These guys are constantly touching, sweating, breathing on one another.

Any sport not utilizing some sort of bubble is absolutely screwed.

How is KBO doing it? I seen a game on the other night where they had a few fans there

At some point, we are just going to view this as part of life and get on with it. I assume all these guys were asymptomatic.

I’m starting to worry about baseball even though we restarted. Two games already cancelled or postponed because of COVID.

Korea doesn't have anywhere close to the per capita positive cases we do.

Now whether that's them not testing anymore or that they truly have it under control, who knows.

I believe several of the players are symptomatic

If they were symptomatic when they played, then frick them.

If they developed symptoms later, then shite happens.

Every sport will be screwed until they:

1. Realize this virus is similar to the flu and we never cancel sports for the flu
2. Find a vaccine that has no long-term effects (good luck with knowing long term effects in 2020) or
3. Provide higher incentives to play with the risk. If people are scared to play, pay them more. Higher risk = higher reward

Best thing to happen to nfl. They sit back, take notes of nba and mlb, what works and what doesnt, and make a plan.

All it's going to take is a couple more guys hitting the strip club and the bubble ain't going to work either.

Agree. Man, pretty depressing times right now especially looking at it from a College Sports standpoint. I really want to see college football, baseball and basketball come back as normal as possible but my shot glass is half full.

Moderna + NIH vaccine phase 3 trials begin today. LINK

The AstraZeneca + Oxford vaccine just signed an additional $174 million manufacturing deal with Baltimore based Emergent (they had previously signed an $87 million deal). The US government agreed to give Emergent $628 million back in June to build capacity and manufacturing space to produce vaccines.

This vaccine will happen and it's going to come relatively soon. Everybody just needs to do their part and let the smart people figure it out.

Yeah, you're right, but it's truly remarkable what the scientific community is accomplishing right now. There are currently 5 vaccines in phase 3 and 12 more in phase 2. China has already giving emergency authorization for one of their vaccines but China doesn't care about their citizens so who knows about that.

With another 19 vaccines in phase 1 and another 150 or so being created but not yet in testing, the creation of COVID vaccines is going to go down as one of the greatest achievements in scientific history.

I agree that vaccines are probably the only answer that will satisfy people.

There may be longer-term effects, but those will likely be mild anyway (as has been the case for most in the past)
