I’m fine with NIL I just think that the NIL should tie in financially with a clause that requires them to stay at so and so college for x-years. . . . Nothing stops them from leaving - only money.

Pretty close to my thoughts. Players getting paid was part of athletic scholarships from their inception so not sure how it became taboo.

In general:
- Tie player payments to TV contracts. Good way of establishing fair market value.
- Players forfeit NIL when they sign LOI. My employer requires me to do this.
- Create a scale that incentivizes staying, graduating, e.g., $50k for first sesaon and it doubles each year afterwards with bonuses for graduating, bowls, completing eligibility.
- Transfers start over. And can't play against a previous school.

Can tweak the details but that's the general idea.

I don't know how the NIL deals are allowed, so I don't know if this would be legal or not:

allow bowls to pay NIL deals. This wouldn't be a recruiting violation as such, enticing someone to go to school A over school B. And it wouldn't be tied to playing time, you just have to be on the roster for the bowl game.

You get it if your team plays in said bowl, you lose it if you opt out before the bowl.
The sponsor uses your NIL in commercials (bowl footage, etc), with their product. So the Cheezit's Citrus bowl can have Cheezit's commericals, show highlights of the game, players get a cut.
Boutte, Bech etc don't get it, because they chose to leave the team prior to the bowl. Injured players, redshirts etc get it, because they're still on roster.

Not enforceable.

A junior who takes NIL money will just declare at the end of the year and pay back the money out of his first contract.

Get rid of the paid mercenaries (fake students) and have rosters made up of actual students. If these other clowns want to play football they can form a minor league for NFL like they do in MLB. Right now college football is a joke.

College football is ruined with texas and Oklahoma joining sec.

We need more conferences not less… especially with the 12 team playoff now. There should be 12 different and equal regional conferences. Sec, big 8, swc, pac10, acc, big east, big 10, etc

How about let NIL stay....just simply make em wait a year after transferring and no in-conference transfers without a hardship waiver

I FTFY and we just fixed college football.

That was easy.

It's the NIL and instant transfer rule that has to be fixed. Basically, unfettered free agency.

NIL is never going away and based on the SCOTUS's unanimous ruling, it's going to be very hard to regulate.

Now the transfer portal is another story.

Make the conference championships mean something or get rid of them.

Would be much better if they did away with divisions and just had 1 vs 2 in each conference.

I just don’t understand the part of not playing in a conference championship. But still playing for a title.

The team that won their division HAS to play another game and that can be costly.

I agree that scrapping divisions could help with this.

College football is clearly heading down the path of a mass consolidation of power where 3 or 4 super leagues are going to break off into their own segment and the top half of FBS will play together, leaving the bottom half relegated into a lower division. The NCAA might not govern this super league setup, but they’ll maintain control on the relegated schools and FCS.

Many will drop football. Lesser brands from shite leagues like the big 12 and ACC and PAC are fricked. This is all about money. The big ten and SEC have separated themselves so far and above what any remaining schools from the other leagues can attain that it is only a matter of time before it all caves in on these bottom feeders remaining in these conferences.

one simple change to help the bowls is to make the game not matter to your red shirt.

How bout they be treated like any other college student, make a little money instead of the grab bags and social media BS. Like coaches who earned their way to the money, players can too, in the pros. Grad Assistants arent making anything, you earn your way to the next step in life. NIL ruined everything.
