not even close

he has been a busy man on twitter saying how every call that is being made is basically wrong or he disagrees with it

the only thing is he is very police and PC about it

looking at that gif, I'd say that part is debatable. It looks to me like he kind of uses the ground to trap the ball and get control over it, but it's tough to tell from that angle.

I never even saw the play until this gif, but it does not look like the ball hit any of the ground. His hand work looks accurate.

his right arm looks to palm it with firm control and you see his hand coming up with this control of the ball.

again he's very concentrated and controlled once he gains possession. i don't see any where.. not even the tip hitting the ground or bouncing up.

I can't see the ball hit the ground. I can see the ball wobble as if it did hit the ground but I also see PTs hand and wrist under the ball. No way they had enough evidence to say it wasn't a catch.

it was very close and i can understand saints fans being pissed that it was overturned since it was so close.

but in my expert opinion based on the closeup they showed during the broadcast, i thought it was incomplete.

View from the sideline looking in is the money shot. Anyone have that angle?

yeah that's it. the fact that it touches the ground at one point and then ends up leaving his hand entirely after that makes it an incompletion imo.

Except that you can't conclusively see whether or not it touches the ground because of where his left arm is.

You may ASSUME that it does, but you don't have conclusive proof. Thus, you don't overturn the call.

that's fine. like i said i think its clearly an incompletion but i understand the outrage over overturning it. and i think you can see it touching the ground. the left forearm does impede it some but it still seems like you can see it touching the ground.

that is the first I saw from this angle, there is no way they could see that the ball hit the ground. It looks from this angle and the other angle combined that his ring finger and pinkie finger are in a position to keep the tip of the ball from touching the ground.

You can't conclusively say that the ball hits the ground on any of the replay angles they showed.

The play was ruled a catch on the field and should have been upheld because there was no evidence to overturn it.

I saw it on CBS, as well.

I have it DVRed. It's not conclusive and thus should not have been overturned.

Period.

Full mother fricking stop.

i agree it was too close to overturn but for sake of complete/incomplete it was definitely incomplete. and i dont know what your last sentence even means.

You have to have control before it hits the ground.

He doesn't.

The ground helps gain control.

Incomplete. Simples.

the gif also cuts off before the balls pops back into the air, completely leaving his hand. which wouldnt be an issue if it never hit the ground, but if you saw it on cbs you would know part of the football definitely hit the ground.

How does the ground help gain control if the ball doesn't touch the ground.

There is no proof in these two shots of the ball actually touching the ground.

The ball moves the most when his elbow hits the ground but doesn't appear to move greatly as his hand hits the ground-the movement could be due to his chest falling on the ball moreso that the tip hitting the ground.
