That kid idolized Marcus Mariota and Oregon was his dream school. Helfrich was extremely lazy in recruiting him and didn't even offer until the summer before his senior year. Way to go Dumbfrich. Tua is going to be like Baker Mayfield (play style) at Bama. SMDH

Tagovailoa wants to follow Mariota

quote:

It's good, but I feel like I've set my mind already on where I want to go. I don't want to change anything. I just want to follow in the footsteps of Marcus. I feel that Oregon is the place for me with that offense – being able to throw, being able to run. I feel like I fit perfect there.

quote:

"If I got offered from Oregon... oh, geez," he said. "I've been waiting for that for the longest."

eta - Fast forward six months

when he picks up the phone and tries to call the Oregon coaching staff and his calls go unanswered and messages go unreturned, he admits it's harder to dream about a future in Eugene.

Helfrich sunk that program so bad

That is complete incompetence on a level that would be maddening as an Oregon fan.

Amazing how one bad decision can affect an entire team/program/organization.

A shitty car and money you don't need is enough to lure a guy away from following in the footsteps of his idol and pursuing his self admitted dreams?

Worked out great for him to go to bama, but he probably doesn't consider them if he's already committed to his dream school early on.

Yep, Mike Anderson was such a lazy recruiter, in St.Louis. you had 3 studs, and another stud bball player in Southern Missouri

He didnt offer 1, waited till junior season to recruit another, and just pissed around on other 2.

Here is who he lost , because his lazy arse dind't even give an effort, and kids are 2 hours away from CoMo:

Bradley beal
BJ Young
Otto Porter
Ben Mclemore

Even if they get 2 of them, those guys were difference makers.

Had a step brother that loved in Lawrence and went and saw mclemore play and I never knew that Anderson was so inept as a recruiter.

Didn't he whiff on the stud from Kentucky Monk also while at Arkansas? I may be wrong on that.

Tua is most definitely not poor. He attended the best and most expensive private school in the state of Hawaii. It costs almost $17,000 a year to go there.

I'm sure that school has scholarships.

But, you're probably right about Tua not being poor.
