From a team point of view, the most important part of bowl season is the extra practices.

Maybe they become less expensive to put on.

The "meaningless bowl games" will survive as long as there is a need for:

1. Content to fill a broadcasters network schedule that will generate viewership;

2. That said viewership will result in advertising revenue to the broadcaster/network.

Bottom line: It is all about $$$$s and a tried and true formula for creating the inflow of $$$$$s to the networks, schools, conferences and charities that are supported by the various Bowl Committees.

It's always cool to hear about Iowa or Wisconsin players in one of the FL bowl games and it's the first time some of their players have ever seen the ocean in person.

I think they will fizzle out over the next 5-10 years.
