Irony. Wisconsin doesn't even have a wrestling program.

All the things said in this thread about Wisconsin can be said about Iowa and more. We put out just as many O-lineman and high draft picks.

A few things.

First, no one has indicated Wisconsin's wrestling program is the reason for their success at producing great collegiate OLmen. Rather, numerous posters have stated Wisconsin recruits OLmen who have a wrestling background. These are two completely different statements. There is no irony here.

Second, you are clearly jelly bro.

Third, Wisconsin still leads the all-time series with Iowa by four games, despite spotting Iowa 17 wins from 1977 - 1996

? Every Big Ten school has a wrestling program. The worst Big Ten program is still usually ranked around 25 or so in the country. I don't think it has anything to do with Wisconsin's O-line, but a strange assertion to make.

Had no clue Wisconsin had wrestling. I guess that's a reference to how good the program is.

Baseball, that's what Wisconsin cut.

Point stands, Iowa puts out just as many, if not more, and high quality OL.

There was a lot if talk about wrestling and the correlation to good offensive lineman and the wrestling in Wisco. It's Iowa that is the big wrestling state in HS and college. Ferentz specifically targets O lineman with a wrestling background.

Yeah, I don't disagree that wrestling is very good prep for the O-line overall. I also agree with the earlier assertion that intelligence is more important on the O-line than the D-line.

The other reason for Wisconsin's success is they have the only D1 football program in the state. Iowa has Iowa State and UNI to deal with. Now, Iowa doesn't lose recruits to those schools as the Hawkeyes get their pick in-state but it does have some effect on depth.

Nebraskans have been complaining that since the 4 Dakota schools have moved to FCS it has affected the Husker's depth.

I know the Dakota school's also hit Wisco hard as South Dakota just signed a few Wisco kids today and so did the other Dakota schools.

That depth matters. One of Wisconsin's best recent linebackers was a transfer from South Dakota. Plays for the Dolphins now. Van Ginkel.

Wisconsin redshirts almost every offensive lineman that comes there way. They're big, smart and ready when they make their first start.
