Yea, I don't get the whole vacating wins deal either. Ohio State still won the game on the field.

As is most always the case, the cover-up is worse than the actual infraction.

Case in point, Tattoo gate and Jim Tressel.

Just chill out and stop posting about it.

I personally don't think this will happen, at least not for the Sugar Bowl. By that point the NCAA knew that the infraction occurred and still let the 5 play.

I don't care about the rest of the games, except for Michigan I guess since I don't want that streak to end

1-11 with a Sugar Bowl victory over an SEC team sounds fine to me

I like how people were up in arms when an green got screwed with 4 games for doing the same thing pryor and co did yet they are criminals much more comparable than dezx bryant

My last response to you and I'll be perfectly civil.

This has nothing to do with the Tat5. You don't seem to be getting that. It has everything to do with a coach that was given information that his players were committing violations and then chose to sit on that information. He then compounded the situation by reporting false information on NCAA documents. It's easily seen by most that he did it to keep players eligible that should have been suspended for several games.

You're deflecting by bringing up Green or Dez Bryant. They have nothing to do with the situation and neither does the selling of items by the Ohio State players. The coverup is the crime here.

i never said that didn't happen. i'm saying a 5 game suspension fits that crime. when's the last time a coach got suspended in college football?

i brought that up because your boy compared the situation to dez bryant when it is much more comparable to aj green. either way, both were cases where everybody was furious at the ncaa. The bucks do something similar and people are fine with their harsher punishment. double standard

Speaking of cover ups, I think the following theory is very compelling. I could definitely see this being a case of a president and AD convincing Tressel to take all the blame and play dumb with an "I didn't know what to do with confidential information and was trying to protect my players" act. The whole explanation in the press conference seemed rehearsed and staged. It's all too convenient. The following theory is interesting and if true but would result in an almost gauranteed lack of institutional control charge.

I mean I have a HARD time accepting that Tressel doesn't report this to Gene Smith when not reporting it could get him fired and possible even his boss fired. That's CYA 101. Tressel would still be complicit in a cover up, for playing ineligible players & lying to the NCAA but the idea that he didn't tell Gene this or at the very least that Gene wasn't aware of this is very hard to believe.

And even if he did become Prez of the NCAA, tO$U's sanctions will have been decided long before then.

The NCAA hired a new prez just last year iirc.
Then why come clean at all? No one but the university knew.
Just now read your post. I agree completely and until you I was the only one on my board not buying this crap that Gene Smith and Gee the president just found out. That is why they only offered a small punishment.

That was the three of them doing ''Plan B''.

BTW ''Plan A '' was hiding it and hoping they don't get caught.

Plan B was ''Tressel you just act like you didn't know how to tell us and we will act like we are just now finding out but we will be very sympathetic towards your ordeal and give you a light punishment and that will be the end ofit.

As normal Gee way underestimated the public.
