you saying you believe rape is prevalent among athletes on southern campuses?
I might be misunderstanding but I think he means rape by athletes is only prevalent on Southern's campus.

I love college football I REALLY do, one of my favorite pastimes,, Fall Saturdays are fricking awesome.

The conviction is also not at all related to the coverup.
I see what you are saying and those convictions are no doubt coming but there is still enough information out there for the NCAA to act IMO and I am OK with them accepting the Freeh report.

When the NCAA imposes bowl bans and such, essentially it's the same as a fine. Pretty much any sanctions really come down to money anyway.
But bowl bans and a loss of scholarships guarantee that long term competitiveness will be severely affected.

way I read the article sounded like it would come from athletic coffers...
But couldn't one rich guy just donate a bunch of money to the athletic department?

Does the BIG distribute tv and bowl money evenly throughout the conference like the SEC? Will the conference blackball Penn State from receiving their share?
Posted on 7/22/12 at 10:12 pm to stout
Well just throwing money (the fines) at any problem doesn't fix it. A 8 figure fine will just galvanize Penn St. to be more cutthroat to make that money back via the football program and booster donations.

It's also to send a message to other universities to not attempt to cover such crimes up ever again. I don't see what you people don't understand about the punishment.
Yeah the message needs to be sent by putting all of the perpetrators in jail, god people are being fricking dumb about this case.

It's not necessarily to deter anymore child abuse crimes at a university but any and all potential illegal activities. It's not that hard to grasp, people.
The thought that the NCAA should be policing any and all illegal activities is ridiculous, IMO. People who wan the NCAA handing down punishment in this case are very short sighted.

It's pointless to go out of the way for a deterrent to a situation that probably won't ever happen again.
I disagree with you. People who do things like that are not worried about getting caught. So yes, it can happen again. And unfortunately, it probably will or has

I don't understand the people supporting not punishing the program.

The "program" doesn't have anything to do with it, I want every single person associated with the cover up thrown in jail, and then guess what? Penn state now has NO REASON to be punished, because everyone who should be hurt is already in jail, and everyone else there is innocent and therefore should not be punished.
it's called fricking logic, instead of thinking in your reactionary emotional mob mentalities.
