Why would the GM of the Dallas Mavericks want to keep the Lakers strong? Never attribute to malice what can be adequately explained by incompetence.

Nico always stated he wanted a strong defensive team.

Davis is a great defender and Christie is very good.

He still should have gotten Reaves and just rerouted him for another pick.
