I don't even know what to say. I don't care for either team, but that was beyond a terrible call.
The NFL will eventually suffer from this.

Absolutely terrible. Though Vikings had a similar one called against them as well

Terrible and doesn’t seem at all in what the rule was meant for.

The call on Matthews cost the Packers the game (although I guess they still tied)

I'm completely blown away. Stop being cowards and just announce that you cannot hit QBs anymore.

The explanation for the penalty was worse

"he lifted up the QB and drove him into the ground"

neither of which happened.

The call against the Vikings earlier converted a 3rd and long, after which the Packers scored.

Its all a wash, in the end, in that game.

That’s why the ratings are down. Absurd calls such as this. Ref must have placed a wager on the game

The NFL won’t suffer from it.

A few years ago, everyone said the targeting rule would ruin football. Now, when it happens, everyone just says ‘that’s targeting’.

Same will happen with this. Defenders will adjust to how they tackle the QB, and then all these hard hits and non let ups will go away, or fans will scream for the penalty when it happens to their QB.

I can’t stand seeing bullshite calls like that impact games. That ref should be suspended. What an awful call.

Call are missed and that is part of having human beings in striped shirts out there. What is truly pathetic is Corrente’s arrogance in doubling down on it. Unless I saw something different it wasn’t the NFL saying he lifted and drove him it was Corrente after the game. When asked what Matthews could have done different he responded “ don’t lift him and drive him into the ground”. Tony Corrente is either an idiot or a coward. And I really don’t like the Packers!!
