How bad was late-stage Pete Carroll as a HC

Seattle finally forced him out after years of frustration and personell meddling and putting his kid on staff in top positions, then they go on to win the SB I like 2 yrs.
Raiders were a bottom 2-3 team in 1 year, and now they're 3-0 for one of the very few times over the last 30+ yrs it seems.
Damn. What a fall.

That Seattle team only having only 1 SB after being loaded for a decade and maybe the best personnel guy in the league as your GM is just insane in retrospect.

Carroll also drove Russ away from the clean cut guy he was by turning the locker room against him for not being "hood" enough. The whole "Mr. Unlimited" schtick, marrying Future's former cumrag, the hair, etc. He did this all while hijacking drafts and scripting the first half of games away from Russ' strengths. Pete Carroll should die of gonorrhea and rot in hell. (Einhorn/Finkle)

How do you not give Lynch the ball 4x in that situation is one of the all time greatest coach frick ups.

That defense at it's peak was something else. Thomas, Sherman, Wright, Wagner, and Chancellor were unreal. So much of they did went without saying on the field. Many times they'd just pass off coverage correctly because they all saw it the same way.
There were some really dumb personnel moves from Pete Carroll post super bowl.
Trading Max Unger for Jimmy Graham was monumentally stupid. He was rock solid at Center and just won you a super bowl.
Maybe the playcall wasn't his, but the end of their 2nd superbowl (3rd in franchise history) was awful and fractured the locker room.
Drafted WR D'Wayne Eskdridge out of Western Michigan instead of Creed Humphrey at Center. I'll leave it to you to see which of those two worked out better.
The dumb trade for Jamal Adams. Paid for too much draft capital for a guy who couldn't cover and then stupidly used him as a pass rusher and then paying him based on getting 9.5 sacks under that paradigm as if a 220 lb safety could hold up to that year after year (he didn't; hasn't been healthy since).
Bottom line is he lost the locker room then proceeded to make bad personnel moves hoping to keep the Super Bowl window open. 2015 was really their last best shot at getting back to the show.

You don't have to do that, but it would have helped if they at least made them believe they were going to do it.
I've cited Brian Kelly's 2-pt call to beat Alabama. That play had it all. 2-TE set, motion in the back field, roll out QB playaction pass. The defense had to think about everything.
By contrast, Seahawks line up with 4 wide basically telling NE we are going to throw, stop us. They did.
