Theres a short inning for Greinke. 6 innings may be in the cards if he keeps this up.

Hell of a game for grienke, so far.

They don’t value singles anymore. Sabermetrics “ruined” baseball.
Obviously not ruined. But significantly changed it. I wish we could find a middle ground.
Bunts should be taught. Opposite field hitting should be taught. Base running should be taught.

If he makes 7 and we’re still up, no reason to pull him.

If you can teach it in such a way to make it viable and an advantage, it’ll come back.
All sabermetrics did was point out that a lot of things in baseball that were highly valued (as they were) were actually not good.

Beating the shift should be prioritized more.
A few opposite field and bunt hits and teams will stop shifting so much which opens up more of the field.

Greinke wont pitch more than 100, so I dont see any way he pitches more than 7 unless the Yankees get real bad which I dont expect.

Woof, Tanaka throwing some shite that should be covered in butter sitting at the bottom of some guidos popcawn

When I see a super shift and the batter can’t bunt for a hit then that’s a real issue.
I think that there is always a value to a base runner.

Can we go more than three pitches in a fricking at bar, please!?
Edit: Leaving it. Makes me wish I was at a bar.

I’m not saying there isn’t. My point was that the way they were being used or trained, those parts didn’t add value.
After everyone started valuing OBP, billy beane switched to hunting very good defensive players. It just depends on your team philosophy.
If you can measure a player’s ability to direct his hits, you could select players who could beat shifts. Until then, it’s dominant.

yeah shifts decades back consisted of just putting the 2nd baseman directly behind 2nd base to prevent hits up middle with eberybody else playimg in normal spots. this shite now is ridiculous. it needs to be exposed. sure, when i coach i use shifts infield and outfield but not like this
