Did you ever play football? Lots of players play with injuries because they don’t want to let their teammates down. It’s just part of the culture of the game.

Yeah, and duh. The point is you don’t fix problems by externalizing blame. Nor should we prop up any culture by enabling that kind of strategy.

Fame, money, and pussy comes with risk.

He will be fine everybody is going full "cancel all football" and "Tuas career is over". It's so dumb. He'll be back in 2 or 3 weeks.

Get out of here with this inane take. Tua could have died last night. You don’t sound cool or tough for attempting to gloss over a legitimately life-threatening issue that the nfl has failed abysmally to address

As an actual medical doctor, I don’t feel bad saying “fans” like you are beyond help and should remove yourselves from following the game. This mindset is cancerous

The fact that his injury last week was covered up as a back and ankle injury and he got his head bashed again this week is grounds for people to get fired. He’ll be lucky if he doesn’t have permanent neurological damage.

This is the smartest thing you’ve ever said on this site

The NFL is all about dollars. They pretend to give a shite about player safety. However, they increased to 17 games. Sometimes play on 3 days week instead of a full week (Sunday to Sunday). Only one bye week, etc. I hope the NFL gets sued bigly for this.

I’m interested in the millions that are being spent on helmet technology and yet a QB is laying on his back doing sign language.

Makes me think it’s all for show.

Then we get this

quote:

Junior welterweight Luis Quinones died Thursday night, five days after being hospitalized following a knockout loss to Jose Munoz at Coliseo Elias Chegwin in Barranquilla, Colombia. He was 25.

quote:

Quinones was declared brain-dead on Thursday, but he was still connected to a respirator until his passing was announced at midnight.

Quinones and Munoz engaged in a back-and-forth fight. In the eighth round, Munoz lost his mouthguard, and referee Leonel Mercado sent Quinones to a neutral corner while Munoz was getting his mouthguard back. Quinones was on wobbly legs in the ring at that point, and when the fight continued, after a punch, Quinones was knocked down. He was put on a stretcher and taken to the hospital.
