Who gives a frick about the Rose Bowl? They are the main reason the biggest games of the season are on fricking NEW YEAR'S EVE.

Jesus Christ. It's time for this ignorant statement to be put to bed. The Rose Bowl is partially responsible for the current playoff days. The SUGAR BOWL is the other party that refused to move their game to another day to accommodate playoff games on New Years Day.

It would have been Sold Out game and the shitty Belk sponsor of the game would have had their TV exposure and they could advertise their message to the 55k+ people at the game AND each team could have made a LOT more money thann they did today. The Belk Bowl had a whopping 45k attendance.

Belk is headquartered in Charlotte, which is why the Belk Bowl is in Charlotte. Belk wouldn't sponsor a bowl in Starkville. They get a lot more than just 45k in ticket sales. It's a corporate event for their vendors and manufacturing execs. They can create a whole lot more business entertaining in Charlotte than the extra 10k+ in ticket sales having it in Starkville would bring them.

Just put local teams in the bowls. Look at the Texas bowl. Sold out and not an empty seat 60,000. Because they put in two teams who would travel easily there

overly sensitive much

I'm more than a little surprised that it wasn't the Orange Bowl that got the evening NYD time slot TBH. The Sugar Bowl bounced around a little over the years though it was mostly at night on NYD but the OB was ALWAYS at night on NYD.

The Rose Bowl has been BY FAR the biggest obstacle to any kind of progress in CFB post season over the years. It is why we had split titles in 91 and 97 and no resolution in 94. In this case however, I really do not see what the big deal is. Personally i'm not bothered by the games being on NYE. The CFB playoff group could have moved the playoff bowls to 1/2 but opted to keep the games in 12/31. People should blame them if they are upset, not the Rose Bowl.
