Schedule permitting, I am going to try to make this my first game at Tiger Stadium. Should be a lot of fun, but I don't expect too much from the Huskies, as they are rebuilding.

Oh, so you are the guy. Ya, I read of some USC fan saying that the other day or such. I forgot who it was.

Ya know, I was desiring to do the same thing as you: but I am thinking of flying out and seeing that game. But unlike you, I can never pull for UW or such. I am strongly leaning to going out for that game only because I want to experience their Stadium and raved upon Tailgate and well, I could care less to see them play a non PAC team there so this may be the only PAC team to play there for a long time...

He will make it better. However, it isn't going to be great.

Me and my friends are actually considering him a traitor. If he was a true Duck, he would of never joined the enemy. He could of joined any other team in the world, and we would not of cared, just not them. I think he is hoping to coach at UO some day. He burned his bridges being UW though, in our books...

Sometimes I think y'all hate UW more than the Beavs. I guess we feel that way about ucla, i.e. absolute disgust; but although we are rivals with ND there's more of a mutual respect factor. We actually give ND preferred seating at the Coliseum and they reciprocate when we go to South Bend.
ucla however, gets the nosebleeds. That is, if any of their so-called fans actually show up.

Duh? It's because we actually do hate UW, with a passion of a thousand moons. Being honest, I don't hate OSU, I just dont like them. Hell, when I first moved to Western ORegon from Eastern Oregon 15 years ago, I actually went to more games at OSU then UO. (as tickets were easier to get).

It is the same way with UW fans. They instate rival WSU, they really do not hate. That is little bro. Now WSU only has one rival, them. And they detest UW, (big bro), but that is classic little bro issues. And we are the same. OSU only has 1 rival, us. THey hate the piss out of us. THat is probably why UW and OSU get along so well, mutual hate. Same thing for us and WSU. Anyways, UW hates the piss out of us, we them as well. Plus, their school song is, "Bow down to Washington'. Dude, they defined Ego all these years. Yes we can get a little cocky, but only 10 percent of how they treated us back in the days...

Anyways, The only Oregon fans that you will rather hear say OSU is our main rival is the current college students at UO. They are young and stupid. They do not know any better. Because we have beat UW 8 straight times, our great rivalry has died down much, and also because our two coaches are too nice to each other. I remember the old days well when both cities papers would attack each other, and each others coaches would attack each other in the papers. And I have read how our President of UO would go up there, and if we scored upon them(in the old days) the President would pound his fist in the press box- up against the coaching staff of UW's press box and yell out, "TAKE THAT YOU frickING HUSKIES!" But trust me, any fan over 30 remembers, VERY well how UW treated us. I had many friends get beer bottles smashed on top of them while visiting at UW. The most our fans will do is through dog biskets at their fans. I have had several buddies, even females who were prago get spit on, through bottles at, pushed around... We hate those frickers.

And in my view, if a Duck does not hate UW, he really is not a hard core Duck. He really is not. It runs VERY deep. Most of my buddies, as with me, will never ever ware the color purple on them at any time because of UW. We hate purple. Ya feel me?

When I lived in Oregon, every Duck fan hated:

1. UW
2. USC
3. OSU

in that order.

That is true. But there is a lot of respect mixed in with that hate of USC. I personally respect USC a lot more then most of my fellow Duck buddies though...

The four sixteen team super conferences concept has been talked about for at least a decade now. I think the four team playoff, with the conference champ stipulation, is the first real step to that.

So your rumor may end up having some basis in fact.

I wish the rumor mongers would make up their minds. I just browsed a thread on another board saying they are going to the Big Texas conference.

True.

I don't see Texas joining the PAC12. In the last round Texas seemed to be flirting with the Big Ten at least as much as the PAC12 and the Texas people feel that overall the Big Ten is a better fit for football, academics and basketball. Plus, they'd love to do it to spite Nebraska. They have a thing for the people of the corn.

So does this harm USF's emergence as having a good sports program?

Well that, and the UT to Big Ten talk has been going on for at least half a decade...

It all went down like this. The first time, we flew down there, got all of them interested, they all wanted to do it, and Texas Committed to doing it. Colorado jumped with us first cause they knew could be last man standing and be left out. It was to be Tamu, Texas, OU, Okie Lite, Colorado, and Missouri probably. Anyways, The little players in Big 12 freaked out, and knew would be left out. So they gave up tons of money and power to Texas begging them to stay. Texas played us, bluffing, and it worked. Texas, OU were staying. We had only Colorado. So then we were forced to add Utah. You are right. Baylor and BYU were not considered because Cal and Stanford rose up and voiced a problem with having religious schools. And well, Nebraska left and in time so would Tamu.

Almost.

Nebraska was the first to jump, to the B1G.

Colorado then announced it was heading to the PAC before any of the others.

The five that were rumored were A&M, Texas, Texas Tech, OU, and Okla State.

Baylor pitched a fit since they were about to be relegated to the Sun Belt Conference (if not the Southland Conference and the FCS ranks). With a ton of Baylor Law School grads in the political ranks this could have been a problem since the Legislature was due to meet in 2011 (it only meets every other year in odd-numbered years).

Meanwhile A&M was none too pleased that Texas was calling the shots (again) and the SEC rumors started. (During that time Gene Stallings, former Alabama head coach, was a member of the TAMU System Board of Regents and was rumored to be leading the SEC move.) Again politics comes into play here--Governor Rick Perry is an A&M grad and was running for re-election; no one wanted to ruin his chances.

Fast forward one year--Perry won re-election, the Legislature met and adjourned, Stallings term on the Board of Regents expired and he didn't renew. But now all the Longhorn Network stuff began to leak out. A&M finally has enough and leaves though not without Baylor and its endless supply of attorneys threatening to sue.

pipe dream those schools are connected at the hip with UVA and UNC

StraightCashHomey21--You're one of the better posters around. Let me throw this scenario out there.

What if UVA and UNC get invites from the B1G? If VT and NCSU agreed to support UVA and UNC moving to the B1G on the condition that they be allowed to pursue SEC membership, could that relieve some of the political heat?

baptist gon baptist

but really though almost the same reasons VT wont be able to leave UVA. UVA still holds most the pull in Virginia politics and after the pro UVA politicians did so much to get VT in the ACC. Those same people would tie up a potential VT move out of the ACC in court for so long it wouldn't be worth the trouble. Not to mention the pro VT members who would be also pro ACC would side with this too

Maryland is a much more logical target for the Big Ten IMO.
