I believe it, but there's no upside at all to adding FSU or Clemson. I'd rather get UVA, Duke, ECU, or WVU than either of them. They add nothing to the conference monetarily.

most agree if it was just down to football and basketball we were the obvious choice at 14 but Mizzou had the bargaining chip of markets it sucks but we landed nicely on our feet esp with the new Big12 tv deal. In the long run we ended up in a much better conference and with a much better tv deal than both our main rivals VT and Pitt. After getting fricked over so much it feels good to finally be up there.

Sorry if already posted but here is a specific breakdown of Tier 1 and Tier 2 money across the big conferences.

ESPN

It doesn't take into account the rumored new Big 12 deal but does take into account the ACC deal. Couple things:

1. The SEC is about to get paid because when you look across the board, it is woefully undervalued now compared to the other conferences, especially since football drives the value and the SEC kind of is successful at that sport.
2. I don't think the Big10 has Tier 3 rights like we normally think about them - here, they really only have Tier 1 and 2 because of the B10 network. But maybe a Big 10 person can explain that better.
3. Pac 12 Tier 3 rights, also not shown here, should be pretty good with the regional networks they are planning.
4. ACC's deal still sucks for FSU and other "football" schools. It's still unclear to me whether any basketball content is left for Tier 3 in the new deal....this says no (and also see definition of "tiers" as they are using them) but the ACC wesbite announcement seems to suggest there will be an inventory of games left over for the schools to have. A gold mine for UNC and Duke, not so much for Miami, FSU, Clemson, etc.

I would be surprised if UF, USC, UK and UGA allowed Clemson, FSU, GT and Louisville into the conference. One of the big selling points recruiting-wise is "You get to play in the SEC". You lose that, you lose a lot. Particularly USC and UK.

There is talk that Virginia and Maryland would join the big ten if the ACC ever implodes and that if MD and VA came to the big ten the big ten would take them. The big ten doesn't want to be seen as raiding conferences and especially the ACC.
