There are very few industries that sound cool, but must suck more than sports talk radio.
I don't know how these guys take the volatility. Constant reshuffling partners, time slots, always worried about ratings, shitty pay, a dying medium.

i listened to innes from time to time on the drive into work
he focused half of his radio show talking about other stations (610 and 97.5) and the other half, he tried to push the racial envelope.
his first 2 months, he spent bashing charlie p, who was popular enough around town.
he sure as frick didnt make any friends anywhere in town

Access. Get to hang around and talk to sports personalities. Also, make money from remotes, sponsorship deals, etc. Hell Mattress Mac might have given him a room full of furniture.

Put on 1280 in NOLA this morning a bit after 8 and they had the Innes fill-in hosts doing the show. Was Outkick the coverage on until 8 am? Curious what they do with 8 - 10 am if they will have Clay Travis on until 8 am.

Because he talked more about NOLA sports - a tiny bit - in the morning than anyone else did. T-Bob's show does more but it can be hard to pick up some times.
Would like to see a good local show in that slot. But considering how bad the rest of 1280 local programming is, ugh.

I actually enjoyed his morning show with Jim Mudd thoroughly. Lots of LSU content so I can see why a Houston radio network wants it to be more Texas focused.
