This is the current state of the NBA folks. The league is doing anything and everything they can to turn attention away from the shitty quality of play, controversial political issues and tanking ratings with "look at our flashy and hip unis" gimmicks that are actually just adding to the pathetic state of the NBA. Adam Silver is the worst Commissioner in the history of American Sports. The simple fact that ESPN and the likes go out of their way to ALWAYS tell you he's the best, just reinforces that he's the worst. The NBA is trash. Just wait until LeBron retires.....

Hell yea they have. Have you seen what the Lakers did to their purple uniforms? Tragic.

think The Spurs city is pretty cool.

If seen those colors on Spurs merch and I think it’s pretty identifiable.

Yeah the new city edition alts are based off the old warmups SA used to wear in the 90s. Super popular, but like OP said, the fiesta colors had never made it onto the Spurs' actual game jerseys until this season.

Each team has like 3 alternate uniforms and they wear them way too much.

This to me is the big issue - I think the NFL has it right where you only wear alternates in a max 3 of 16 games. Using that same ratio, you'd have NBA teams only wearing their alternates 16-17 times per season. The Celtics have already worn their alternates that amount this year in less than half a season.

I hear ya bro but they’ve been tweaking the uniforms since Oregon made that shite popular

Y’all old heads just need to start coping with the fact that this league is geared more towards the urban twitter talking teenagers... not the ‘old, grumpy white people’.. that’s a fact and the league is trying to drive it home

The only problem is this demographic is one of the least interested in sports long term as entertainment and is least likely to pass it down to their kids.

Look at the uniforms. That’s what this thread is about. You think they are doing all that, coupled with the perpetual war on racism, for middle aged white guys? frick no they aren’t

I’ve done some coaching of teenagers. They’re all way more in to the NBA than any other league. They watch highlight tapes of high schoolers and everything like that too. LaMelo Ball is probably the biggest new star with a lot of kids. The NBA has done a way better job than say the NFL with reaching younger audiences, just by allowing their highlights to be posted on Twitter and Instagram and not getting them taken down like Major League Baseball for instance.

I'm not old...and any league that isn't marketing to 35+ demographic...well that's a league that's making terrible decisions, as the 35+ demographic has all the money. That actually explains why the league is in the situation it is in. I'm telling ya, the NBA is NOT in a good place, regardless of how many young kids watch highlights on IG.

The Rockets wear their Oilers unis more than their regular ones. It’s absurd

The presence of ubiquitous alts doesn't bother me (I obviously LOVE San Antonio's new city edition alts), and I don't think it's part of some overarching ploy to distract from politics or quality of play, but there's no denying that the traditional home/away is lost. It's still kinda weird to see SA wear the black unis at home now.
